A friend (no, really it is a friend and not me being shy )has just received a NIP for 56 in a 40.

Anyone had a NIP for similar? If so what's the likely outcome? £60 and 3 points or worse ?

TIA

I was doing 42 in a 30 at 2:30AM and got 3 points and £60 fine...

They were having a clamp down on speeders on a particular road over Christmas a couple of years ago so I might have got away with it otherwise...

But at 2:30AM... COME ON!!! GRRRR....

Normally anything over 60 mph in a 40 limit will result in a visit to the Magistrates to explain why.

You should expect to receive the offer of a FPT
£60 and 3 points.

JSG was the cop that booked you in the same lodge?

Lodge ? No it was after I'd left Beavers.

It was in the days before the Fixed Penalty notice went up to £60 and I was caught (fair and square) in a radar trap along with a few others (ie all of us on that stretch of road) on a dual carriageway with no buildings on either side. I did feel I'd got off quite lightly though.

Mind you the Fixed Payment office dragged it out for 9 months, cost me a fortune in postage and forced me to go to court, but thats another story - quite funny though.

Cheers,
JSG.

How are you getting on with the system? (not the FPT system) if you know what I mean. Is it all going OK?

Madcop,

Its going well, I'm automatically doing most of it now which is good. It makes a blast in the TVR even more enjoyable and is of benefit when I'm in the Audi as well.

The family found it a bit strange on holiday in the Defender though .

I've bought the book now .

Cheers,
JSG.

Just got this from the friend...

quote:
Do you know any more about the 14 day rule? The NIP was dated 27th (offence was
12th) but underneath there was a disclaimer saying the original notice (never seen it) was posted in the due time.

anybody know where she stands here?

It's complicated by that fact that the vehicle was her husbands company car, he left the company on the 23rd, so he would never get the NIP directly. However, she works at the same company and presumably is picking up his mail.

TIA
