Stupidly I approached a camera van on the above road at an indicated 85. Does anyone know what I am likely to get please? No complaints, fair cop.

Any points already ? Speed awareness courses attended in the last 3 years ?

The numbers vary by region, but you should fall into awareness course territory - there's a regional checker http://www.nopenaltypoints.co.uk/speedawarenesscou...

Above that would be 3 points & fixed penalty.

Unlikely you'd be deemed fast enough for automatic magistrates summons.

Coz people on here are f****n nosy
OP the thresholds don’t vary, generally the same everywhere, should be a course up to 86

Or, because it would make a bigger difference if the OP was driving a van due to some of them having lower speed limits wink

Got a letter for speeding on the A30 this morning. 70 in a 60 section (was 2 lanes, thought it was 70).

Where was that then ? East of exeter, i cant think of anything to the west that drops below 70

Nothing to do with number of lanes, it's carriageways that count.

Single carriageway West of Camborne exit, dual carriageway East of it.

A 2+1 single carriageway? Equals 60mph both directions, for cars. Classic places for speed cameras, mobile especially.

Yes, many have a double white line on the single downhill stretch, but not all do. This sees plenty going at 80mph up the hill, you usually get a flash from an approaching motorist if there is a camera van in the Parking lay-by.

Even on motorways/dual carriage ways a car derived van( see below) is still has a limit of 60mph
.
Vans can do 70 motorway rolleyes

That is the towing speed limits.
