Is it only me that missed this or is everyone aware that the photo license is not valid and not accepted by the police as a valid driving license. The paper license is the only valid license.

So whats the point of the photo license?

I thought that only both of them together were accepted by the police as a valid driving license.
Don't have one yet, but that's what I'd heard..

I was pulled over once and they accepted the photo card license and didn't ask for the paper part.

If you are 'pulled' on the road for a very minor violation then most officers will accept your photocard license and let you drive on.

If you are given a producer (HORT/1) then you will be required to present both at the police station.

If you commit an offence for which you are offered and wish to accept a fixed penalty licence at the roadside, you have to be able to produce both the photo and the paper parts to the licence or accept a provisional fixed penalty notice where you have to produce bith at the Police station within 7 days.

If you are stopped and asked to produce your licence to ascertain your identity or proof that you have in fact passed the relevant test for the vehicle you are driving (i.e. after being involved in an accident when the Police are in attendance) then just the photo licence will be sufficient.
