OK, picked up the wife's new Cooper S on the weekend, heading south on the A68 (I think) was flashed once by Gatso on other side of the road in front of me? Strange. Had just overtaken OAP plodding at 55mph in his overloaded Maxi, so bit harsh on a straight clear stretch of road. Anyway, do Gatso's now work head on as well? (I was probably doing 70-75 if its relevant)

No forget it, as long as it was a normal Gatso with markings on the road after it and a clear lense and not a Truvelo with red lense and buried triggers in the road before it.

I've been flashed a few times by head on gatso's.
Only once was I going over the speed limit, and then only slightly. I guess they can suffer from interference somehow which triggers them. I've never heard anything from them and I don't think their evidence is permissable if they get you the 'wrong way round'!

According to the UK Speed Trap guide, Gatos can do front on, but are only calibrated for one way and have to have a switch flicked before they are calibrated to make them work forwards or backwards as the radar signature is different for cars coming or going away.

Consequently if it's installed facing the back of cars, they can't do you for driving at it as it isn't operating within its approval.

I don't want to put a dampner on this, but I remembered something similar coming up before.

It was a forward facing flash similar to a Gatso.

Sorry, you might be in the s**t.

The damn German police use nothing but front facing cameras. I was recently caught for speeding and the pictures the police showed me were nothing less than astounding!

4 Seperate pictures with one showing an A4 close up of my face and you could also see the passengers crystal clear.

Once I get a copy I will post them here for a laugh...

"IS this you". "Erm, yes..."

oh I didn't realise that.
that other thread makes interesting reading!
The ones I have been through tho. are the standard gatso's with the huge white ladder painted on the road!
