I now have two speeding tickets against my vehicle. One from a police speed trap at 88 mph the other from a fixed speed trap doing 68 mph (although not picture has been sent with this ticket).
Both tickets have the same time (times printed are in whole minuets), both tickets state the same location.
Can you be caught twice for one offence? can I try HOW CAN I BE IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE?

erm... plead guilty to the 68 one - would be my advice.....

no idea really - I guess it could be a typo - 68 or 88
might look similar in some type fonts ?

May be able to get it dropped somehow ?

If both NIP's state the exact same time I would suggest you plead not guilty to both as you cannot be prosecuted for doing two different speeds at the same time.

The fact both are above the speed limit, i dont think has any bearing as they each suggest the other is inaccurate.

I could well be talkin absolute bolloxs though so see a solicitor.

Write to the fixed penalty office that issued the tickets with photo copies of both. I understand you have an alibi from reading your previous post on this.
If that does not get the tickets withrawn, when the summons arrives plead not guilty and then do the same to CPS who will throw the case out as you only have to introduce an element of doubt in the proceedings for you to be acquitted.

Two offences at the same time at the same location at different speeds might just bring in an elemant of doubt

88mph in your M3 with those big wheels, huge spoilers and blacked out windows! What a shame they didn't send you a commemorative photo so that you could show it off down the pub! We all hate speed limits but unfortunately they are law and as such I suggest you take your punishment like a man and stop crying like a little girl!

You better hope we're as supportive when you get your next ticket, Jacko ...

See this thread for why he shouldn't "take his punishment like a man" as you so charmingly put it: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=10&h=0&t=17788

Well after reading the sympathetic replies from our resident law boys, I considered the "stop crying" post to be very offensive. Ok, maybe not polite of me, but nothing less than I'd say face-to-face if I had have heard it said. No one deserves 2 tickets for the same bit of speeding.

Herstbiker chill out. You may not agree with my comments but personal abuse is not necessary. I have, like most of us, had my fair share of speeding fines, points and even a ban (105mph on M11) over the years. Of course you would probably understand my comments better if you had to put up with the incessant whining at work all day from am(3)azed!

Hello hertsbiker thank you for putting jack500 (soon to be jack NO 500 if anybody will come and buy his car) back in his box of bitterness, and when he comes back to his desk going to sit him down and then make him CRY LIKE A LITTLE GIRL
I am seeing a solicitor later this week so will let you know what happens.
