Are you Boys in Blue more interested in persuading drivers to slow down, or would you sooner give tickets?

Put another way, in your ideal worlds, would you advise or punish?

As in most of the other posts on this sort of question, it very much depends on all the circumstances at the time of the offence and certainly in my mind, the big thing is the attitude of the offending driver.

If I find them offensive as well as offender, then they go in the book.

Simple as that.

For those not in the know about the attitude test is really simple. Ar*eholes get tickets and nice people get advice. unless caught doing 60 past the local school at 3.30pm.
That was my rule of thumb anyway

Just like most things in lfe 'politeness pays'... I've had roadside conversations with lots of boys in blue and it's certainly a damn good idea to behave politely and admit when you're in the wrong - remember there's paperwork behind every ticket !
