DVLA Tax Cameras, am I fecked???
Discussion
Yesterday,
I parked up and got a tax disc for my other half's new car, as the car park is the sort where you pay at the booth before you leave and if you don't get out in time it's a pain in the rectum to sort out, I paid and bogged off leaving the shiny new tax disk in amongst all the other documents, on the way to my next stop where I was going to stick the disc in the window, I went past a DVLA tax disc camera!
The registation forms are on their way to the DVLA as she only picked it up on Monday,
What's the likely outcome, who will get the ticket from the DVLA?
And is there some common sense applied to the process or is it instant life imprisonment if they finally catch up with us??
Your opinions would be most welcome.

I shouldn't worry too much, All they are worried about is that you have paid the money. That will be apparent when the cheque/form from the post office arrives at DVLA. As long as you paid for the months that you used the car i.e. didn't have a month off while using the car, you will be safe.
There are 2 offences.
1. no V.E.L.
2. Fail to display V.E.L.
The second one is rarely used and if DVLA query it then maybe the plastic holder had peeled off due to the hot weather and was lying on top of the dash board!

This sort of relates to this topic....
I read an article in the local paper this week stating that the "tax" cameras could operate at night.. This does not particually bother me - law abiding citizen and all that...
However does this mean that the portable vans with the lying inscrption "Safety Camera Team" will be able to operate at night?
Now starting to get concerned that these portable cash machines will operate at 2.00am in the morning (when I do a lot of my driving long distance)
