outlaw, are you serious?! if a pikey hit your car and calmly drove away safe in the knowledge he wont be caught, would you accept it calmly and kiss goodbye to your NCB......I seriously hate these f**kers after I saw a couple of them attack someone in broad daylight and after I see the piles of filth they leave everywhere. We pay for these tossers who contribute nothing to society, we provide them with special sites which they destroy.....deep breaths, heads for dark room

Apache, fantastic picture of your Griff!

After reading your post I would have to concur that you seem to have been dropped on your head as a child!

I know a few pikeys and they work hard, play harder and generally believe in being fair. They're not all Mickey O'Neill and Gipsy Rose, y'know. 'My' Pikeys are probably not that dissimilar to yourself, having jobs, a house and good bathing habits.

They do tend to get through rather a lot of 'dags', though...

Tallchris, he does have a point. Have you ever seen a pikey temporary campsite? I'm not talking about honest travellers - it's a hard life and they need all the luck they can get - but those that don't give a toss about their surroundings or society in general. I've had two near me in the past couple of years, one in the local train station car park and the other on a field/car park next to Harlequins rugby ground. The amount of domestic rubbish, building spoil heaps, pools of oil/other liquids and dangerous items such as gas canisters and scrap metal left lying around had to be seen to be believed. The car park now has an RSJ across the entrance at 6 foot high to stop caravans coming in.

About 5 years ago I gave my friend a shot on my offroad CR500 bike. He drove onto the road and the police pulled him over. Why he stopped I will never know. No Licence, no Tax, No INsurance and no helmet. He got 9 points and a 250 GBP fine.

Animal, ta...a pikey living in a house, never seen that one before. I'm sorry if my views offended anyone but they are based on first hand experience.

Is the problem here the distinction between pikeys/romany gypsies/travellers, as everyone calls these various groups different things.

erm off topic ish, but why - when the travellers move on with their nice mobile homes do they always leave behind literally tonnes of garden waste. Specifically this takes the form of cut down cypress fir trees?

Always wondered why - anyone know?

Seen it at 4 sites, :
egham,
twickenham (overflow parkeing for rugby ground)
cable + wirless staff car park bracknell (last year)
dell car park bracknell (2 years ago)

(used to work in bracknell - not any more thank god..)

Also - why choose a company car park as a place to live, I mean I can understand the fields down by the river in egham, but the cable and wireless car park in bracknell? Jeez I thought this was supposed to be the freedom of the open road...

not much chance of a prison sentance for it only a few days if you dont pay the fine.

which most peeps who know the score wont pay it.

most peeps who dirive with out any do it because they cant aford the insurance.

giveing them a load of points just means that that there insurance costs even more after and there more likly to do it all the more as its even harder for them to aford it now.

the average fine for it is less than the cost of the
insurance anyway.

Or just do as the pikeys do. Instead of stopping for the police, get your mates to set up a roadblock with a couple of old Bedfords while you quickly torch the car. Then when the cops finally get through – hey presto, there's no evidence.

Hmm, not much good if it's your own car, though, I guess

Well if Apaches a racist then so am I......on the whole they have absolutely no concern for anyone but themselves. They will do whatever is required for themselves and their families.....an honourable idea but translates to "screw the rest of you". They treat animals appallingly, have zero respect for their environment and act exactly as they see fit. If this wasn't costing me money or impacting on my life at all I wouldn't care...but it does.

All above is total generalisation based upon knowing about 30..... Im sure there are good ones as well as bad, but they tend to call themselves travellers.

The local council round where my parents live decided to set up an official camp site for travellers, nicely landscaped, with hard standing for their vehicles and a brick-built toilet/shower block, all kindly provided by the taxpayer. Within days of it opening, one of my folks' neighbours caught a pikey breaking into his car. Turned out the coat he was wearing had been nicked from another car in the neighbourhood, and in the pockets were a load of tapes pinched from a third one. The police weren't surprised - they said they'd had their work cut out, in what had been a relatively low-crime area, since the camp site opened.

tallchris99, can you explain why voicing concerns about such anti-social behaviour is racist? Have you any evidence at all that modern-day travellers are an identifiable racial group? Or have you just got some utopian notion that they're all genuine Romany folk, travelling around in their traditional painted caravans and selling lucky heather?

At least one of them is not travelling about in their caravan, they're travelling about in mine. They nicked it - one of them distracted the farmer whose field it was stored in by asking for work, while his mate towed the van away. They are thieving vermin, no question.
