This morning I was nearly in an accident. For some unknown reason a Jeep Cherokee decided to overtake me while driving along in a procession of 30mph traffic (30 limit). The road has numerous traffic/pedestrian islands and one was in his way, so he decided I would get out of his way instead, which I did in order to protect my insurance costs.

This was on the way into Bracknell so he had nothing to gain if he was late to work or anything. I really don't know why he did it.

I followed him for a bit to see if he turned into an office so I could ask him why, but he didn't pull in anywhere and I couldn't be bothered after we got to the other side of Bracknell - plus I had to get to work (the red mist faded I guess).

Now, I know he joined the road behind me about a mile earlier (in Binfield for the locals), and I guess he lives close to there since it's not a major through road.

Do I:
- Report R811 VHK for dangerous driving to the police (I've heard of people being at the wrong end of this, in this case it is very valid).
- Drive down his road later one evening with a big screwdriver and a hammer?

I doubt that the Police will do anything - if they speak to the person in question, all they will do is deny it, so it will be their word against yours...

To what end? So you risk being procecuted (sp?) for criminal damage?

Unfortunately it may be a case of letting it go. Agreed, not a great scenario, but at least you (and your vehicle) are in one piece...

Ok Trefor,

.....i think your missing the point completely here!

......He drives a Jeep Cherokee.....you on the other hand drive a monster of a machine...a Chimaera...

....your going to be cut-up, overtaken and people generally being rude to you for no reason other than owning an expensive, beautiful car...i had a woman the other day that didn’t like the fact i had gone level with her at the lights and overtook...(not in a mad accelerating way, and not braking the 30 speed limit)...

...she then over took me later and gave the bird!

....so let him go...

Excellent - the best idea so far. "For Sale xxx, possible part exchange for 1995 Blue TVR Chimaera"

I know the road he lives on from where he joined the traffic behind me (it's not a short cut/through road you'd use to go the way we were going) so I'll get his address easily enough

Had something similar few days ago, tootling along one of the local roads, had to slow for junction, car in front gives it max once road cleared so i just kept up as you do. So came to the next sent of mobile traffic lights and was sitting there when had this wierd feeling, like I was being stared at really hard you know; it was the bint in front screwing (!) me in her mirror.
Anyway lights go green, onto roundabout, onto dual then the hand signals start, a lot of rapid adjustment of the rear mirror etc.
So keeps cool, pulls over into l/h lane and "filter" slowly along side and look over, female then REALLY looses it lots more "handsignals" etc along with that preferred female weapon of choice, the pointed finger!!

Hmm, as the road cleared the traffic increased speed and eventually I moved over (as some cars had joined from a slip road and did not give way) and now had the priviliage of said female tailgate me down into a roundabout. I was going to go straight on at the roundabout but want completly around the roundabout to get some separation from the female and defuse (HER) situation, as strapped into the front seat of the females car was a (approx) 10 year old girl..................
Fun Fun Fun

Hey Trefor, I too commute into Bracknell, though from the south, and often take the Chimaera (when the sun shines). Surprised I haven't spotted you around town, or are you on the industrial estate?

I'll look out for this urban truck driver. Let us know if you manage to exact any revenge.

Don't waste the effort. The police will not record it. CPS guidelines for careless etc is basically there must be personal injury, a failure to stop and report vehicle damage, or drink/drugs involved. This back pedals its way through the system so the police avoid accepting reports where they can't secure a conviction i.e. your word against his. Perhaps BiB will confirm, but chances are any notes of you visit to the station to report this will leave the building before you, assuming they even bother to take notes.

If you do resort to some personal retribution, avoid the usual caustic substances, they're obvious. Try something like a UV pen. Cherokee man won't see it instantly, shows up under some street lights to other drivers. Bit more classy !

Bob, I take my hat off to you. Oops, not wearing one, but you get the idea. Now that is something I will just have to give a try... Now wear did I put my security marker?

... or if someone desides to remove your front wing with their trailer, fails to stop, report it to the police (full details of time, location, witnesses and reg number)... wait 6 months... police interview the bloke who says "he can't remember the incident" and end up paying out of own pocket.
