GATSO's....

Thats two I've set off in the last week:

One was forward facing on the other side of the road, on the exit of a 40 limit to 50, I was just drifting along and I set it off as I went past, fairly certain that I was behind the camera when the second flash went off, so only likely to have one picture of me smiling.

Second one was last night on a dual carriageway, drops from 60-40 for no good reason - I know the camera is there, but was dreaming a bit at 60, saw the camera as I went past it, on the anchors, flash flash. First flash at about 55, by the second flash I was down to 35.....

Now the question is, asuming the pictures have been taken, wots the chance of the BIB inspecting them and just letting them go, ie no NIP for me. (9 points already you see......... )

Maybe you'll get lucky if it looks like you're doing an emergency stop in an attempt to scrub off speed in their photo. They might even stick it up on the wall with the other amusing ones

You'll have to be very unlucky to even get on film these days ... but then maybe your local area is a bit different (with your 9 points possibly being a clue?)

I've set off GATSOs about a dozen times in the last couple of years, and I've never had a ticket. Is this other people's experience too?

I can only dream of my Volvo 340 being fast enough
to set off Gatso's.. still gotta go - my tartan rug
needs a service.

Me too I think I'm in to double figures so far and still no points, only a matter of time though.

The first camera I set off was in 1994, it was a Portable camera hidden behind a blue escort estate at 9.30pm on an A road, I got 6 pts and a 14 day ban.

The second camera I set off was in 1996 on the M5 AFTER roadworks but I heard nothing.

July last year I got done by a Prolaser II video unit and to this day I still can't work out where on the road they were hiding. Two days after receiving the NIP I ordered my 996tt on the basis that they started this war, and if I'm going to rack up points in a 7 series I might as well do it in a Porsche before they are outlawed.

In all the above occasions I was not driving dangerously but merely breaking some arbitrary limits set to allow incompetent drivers to use the same roads as I do.

Thanks Derestrictor, one of the nicest compliments I've ever recieved. It's a shame that in buying the car Tony B'liar & Co got their grubby mits on about £14,800 of VAT.
