So go on then, why aren't you insured?

erm....game over. to be fair it's your own fault - what would have happened if you'd run someone over with no 3rd party cover? you could have been bamkrupted for the damages (can run into millions, yes, millions). berk.

Up sh!t creek without a boat in summary.

Your only hope is to find a very very very very kind person with 3rd party any car cover and be in debt to them for the rest of your life. Oh, and this is rather illegal too.

No insurance is a serious offence, first stage would be to get a brief.

Matt.

Hmmm................It costs me a substancial part of my (admittedly low) annual income to insure my 3 cars.
(x1 for my transport x1 for wifes/childs transport X1 MoJo to keep me sane)
But I still do it.
So I have no sympathy for you at all.
Oh yes how about your road fund licence????

Soemthing nobody has asked: Who owns the car? if it is you eatdust you are everything people have posted. If not, does the owner of the car have insurance that covers 'any driver'?

Tough ST! I hope they throw away the key. Insurance companies are a little above dog st in my opinion, but people who drive irresponsibly, i.e through red lights and without insurance, leaving the responsible peolpe at risk through no fault of their own, are even lower! Apologies to everyone else, rant over.

Have to say there's a hell of a lot of sanctimonious high mindedness going on here..

Can you all really tell me that you've *never* driven without insurance in your driving careers? Maybe only one journey, or a test drive or doing a friend a favour.. ? Ever?

The guy must know what we're on here like yet he's come clean and want our advice/opinion.. give him a break why don't you?

Sure, the fact is there's a good chance of getting shafted, but that doesn't give you all carte blanche to so judgemental..

OK CarZee, so lets say you've done the deal on selling your TT and just before the guy/gal comes to pick it up and hand you the dosh, it gets hit by an uninsured driver. Time for a tune change.....

People who drive without insurance are irresponsible. PERIOD. Why whould the rest of us pay for their irresponsibility???

Never, not once, have I ever driven without insurance, nor have I driven after having a drink. It's all about respect, for my licence which is an essential part of my equipment for a nice life and respect for other people, something which is sadly lacking in society today. If you want to call me sanctimonious and judgemental that's fine by me, driving through red lights with no insurance is not!

Interesting that there was none of this sanctimonious, judgemental mud-slinging with regard to Mel's post about testing his racing bike at high speed on the public highway a few days ago.

Could it be that Mel is held in high regard on this site, while nobody knows anything about eatdust?

Mel knew full well what would happen if he was caught out, or had he binned the bike.

Besides (in my view) its one thing giving the bike a one off blast along the local dual carriageway and another driving around town day in day out without insurance.

Did he actually say he routinely drives without insurance?

I think not - for all we know it was a one off - perhaps even precipitated by an oversight, or a cock-up with the insurance co. You don't know, but you presume the worst.

Anyway, recall that Mels bike had none of the road going requirements catered for - no lights, horn, number place etc etc... I don't condemn Mel, but for the same reasons I don't condemn EatDust either.

not really - once the decision had been made to sell the TT, it was left on the drive and never used again - besides, comprehensive insurance cover, don't ya know...

Anyway, it's all to easy to come up with an extreme and unlikely scenario like that.

you're painting this guy as being in the same category as the people who own cars and never insure them - we don't know this to be the case - if you're not prepared to give the benefit of the doubt, at least enquire as to the facts before sitting in judgement eh?

But he makes no mention of "around town" or "day in day out"

There's an awful lot of unsubstantiated assumption going on here.
