Chaps,
Dead straight question for you.
Do your peers know you post on this site?. If they do I pressume your "superiors" must do also.
What do they think of the practice?, do they turn a blind eye to it?, do they endorse it?.
IMHO I think it's a very worthwhile medium, when having a discussion at work, or in the pub, and the subject of police/motoring matters come up, I find myself looking at the police point of view more than I did before I started posting on this site.
Your comments would be of great interest, (to me at least) although I suspect other PH'ers would also be interested.
Keep up the good work.
Regards

I have not publicised the fact that I contribute to this web site, but would have no problem with any of my senior officers reading what I put. Although I am still serving, I am allowed to have opinions about things that may or may not be regarded as PC. As long as I don't divulge information that is classed as sensitive or restricted to do with operational effectiveness or breaches any DATA protection or the law itself, then I know that they would be happy for me to continue. I express many of my (sometimes controversial) opinions to my managers. Although when I do, I always try to have a balanced and constructive point to put across. Some of my personal views are not in line with force policy. Where this is concerned, I would not attempt to vent that view on this forum. Where the Home office and Govt Policy are concerned, I have every right to express an opinion as long as it does not break any of the rules.
Many of the posts that I contribute to are from the benefit of 22 years working on the streets and from my knowledge of the law. where I am not certain of a particular fact, I will refer to the relevant legislation of which I have ready access before posting it on this forum.
To post an inaccurate piece of legislation would not be helpful and in some cases would lead some people to fall foul of the relevant Acts concerned.
My main reason for contributing is to try and put some perceptions of the Police into reality and to give people some sort of insight into what most of us are about and what we are trying to acheive.
I hope that quells your curiosity.

Alternatively, where else could you argue with a policeman (woman???) and get away with it??? .
But on a more serious note, it is refreshing, entertaining and downright interesting to see constructive comments from service (or even ex) traffic police. It not only keeps us grounded in reality, but offers an alternative view on what might seem a simple issue.
This is what makes PH and the internet great. A leveling of circumstances and situations. At the end of the day we are all the people and we must be able to communicate.
Long may it continue and thrive - how about a couple of MP's on the site then? NOw that would be interesting.
Cheers,
Paul

Wasn't he a house fellow of the infamous Darious Guppy, (the right hand man of the Earl Spencer) who tried to feign a robbery in USA several years ago by tying and beating up his other house mate and alleging millions of pounds of wrist watch were nicked at the time (or something), gets rumbled, tries to do a runner and ends up with 10 years at state penetentiary?
I have seen him perfom on 'Have I got news for you' and despite the plum accent, I find him like carzee and nonegreen an absolute hoot

Just wanted to thank madcop, john robson and all for their continued contribution to PH. They can be some of the more useful posters for obvious reasons.
I generally have had pretty good experiences with the police, despite being pulled and ticketed a few times. Most have been fair and reasonable, with only the odd one or two letting the force down (one accused me of racing when I wasn't - brakes were shot and I was nursing the car to a garage - but arguing was a bad idea!).
The other day I got pulled in my new 964RS for driving like a tit (I was and shouldn't have been) and got a few handy hints straight out of Roadcraft as a result, rather than a producer or worse. This mature attitude has strengthened my opinion of the police (not all bastards) and I have heeded their constructive criticsm every mile since (I know the theory, just used to choose to ignore it now and again )
A positive story for this forum, as I know most posts are quite anti-police.
