Got flashed a fewsweeks ago (78 for 50 - at midnight on a dual carriageway a few miles from Stansted airport ). I duly received the NIP a couple of weeks later asking to confirm the driver's identity. After some research, it turned out that the simplest way is to say I was driving - all this because of these perculiar UK insurance practices, i.e. they insure the driver, not the car, whilst the rest of Europe does the opposite!

Anyway, it is now time to return the form and shock horror I'VE LOST IT ! Would anyone have the address of the NIP office in Cambridgeshire, or even a phone number.

Thanks

Roms

I shouldnt really say this but do nothing for the time being and wait for a follow up. They cannot proceed with anything until they have a response from you, save sending someone around to verify details.

The worst that you are likely to be prosecuted for at the moment is failing to notify the driver.

You may not even get a follow up. If the Ticket dept are snowed under, they will probably not even chase you up.

What I should say is phone the Cambridgeshire HQ where ever that is and ask for the address of the FPT camera proces section. Then write or phone them and explain.

Amnesia can be a productive problem

Cambridge Constabulary should be able to provide the NIP's phone number. Call them on 01223 358966.

Bugger! Received a kind reminder yesterday. Guess I'll have to pay for this one!

Btw it was not Cambridegshire but Herts Constabulary - not that it makes a big difference though
