On the way home Monday 9th about 19:00, on the A12 east bound. A fire truck (rescue variant) comes ripping up the road behind me, so I accelerate to pull out of his way (cars on inside and outside lanes) and I trigger a camera.

So do I have a defence? I was at 40 in a 40 limit, and probably hit 50 max to get out of his way.

Is that Monday 9th June?

If so, you're off scot free, they have to NIP you within 14 days.

Matt.

My guess is that you'd have to contest the NIP and plead mitigating circumstances. You might get off if the photographs support your case.

Could really go either way. Just wondered, you appear to be in middle lane, so was fire truck, as opposed to truck being in outside lane.

You have a good chance of getting off, if the NEXT vehicle to get flashed was the Fire truck....

However you do rely on the honesty of the camera office. Ring 'em, and ask. Actually, you may find it better if you contact the fire station and explain. They may let you know if they got a ticket as well.

Mitigation *works*. I'm the proof. You have nothing to lose by defending yourself, apart from a few sleepless nights. Seriously, if you mean what you say then act on it, don't let them shaft you.

Innocent until proven guilty, remember?
