Northamtonshire 'Saftey Camera Partnership'
Discussion
Just had some propaganda shoved half-through my letter box...
There are currently 28 fixed sites within the county, with a further 16 to be installed over the coming year.
There are 7 mobile Revenue Camera Vehicles operating for 85% of the time on Red and Amber routes.
A Red Route is one where 'two or more people have been killed or seriously injured every year for three consecutive years, over a 1000 metre stretch in rural areas or a 500 metre stretch in urban areas'
An Amber Route is where 'one or more people have been killed or seriously injured every year for three consecutive years'
The road outside my house is classified as an Amber Route.
There are no signs (that I've seen ) saying that it's been designated as such, or _why_ it's been designated that way... Why not put some signs up, or put one of those 16 new cameras up on it, rather than have a mobile unit visit once a blue moon?
I think that the biggest problem with the mobile units is that all but 1, I've just been informed , are only capable of operating during daylight hours.
The other thing that is confusing is that average speeds at Fixed Camera Sites have dropped from 33.7 in 99/00 to 23.9 in 01/02. I know that this has caused at least 1 accident at a fixed camera site round the corner from me...
I don't understand why drivers slow down that much past the cameras - I can understand making sure that you are actually doing, say, 30, but 24!
They need to patrol these routes with s
Anyway, enough rambling on...
They have a web site with information about where the mobile units are going to be, etc...

So a scrote and his mate nick a car and plant it into a wall, giving them both a bash on the head, so they get kept in the hospital overnight. Lo and behold, two or more people deemed to have been seriously injured. Cue the tax camera.
I'm gonna buy some real big bags n just spend my days goin round and covering these things up......
There's one near that has had its lense sprayed with red paint (put it outside a pub, whaddya expect cheap n cheerful way to go tho....) and its been like that for months... so why put up more if the ones they've got they don't use??
Mind you - sounds like the Northants ones are in breach of Govm't regs......

Its not just scrotes that get it wrong. Went to one the other day with a 30 year old I.T. consultant in a brand new BMW 330 coupe who was doing his bit to impress the girl in the passenger seat. She must have been really impressed when the post and rail fencing came through the bulk head, pinning her to the back of the seat and removing most of the back of her scalp Mohican style!!!

No fortunately not this time. God knows how though sa the rail went through the side of her jacket and the seat and the rear door skin.
With regard to the plums he could have burst them himself on the same intrusion.
He was running around like a headless chicken shouting
" have I killed her"
He was the only car involved.
I suppose he could now be regarded as a scrote for what he did.
Oh he was slightly injured himself but more his pride than anything when he realised she wasnt dead!
