Your in the shit. Sorry. I got six points before my two years were up and consequently lost my lisence. Long distance job probably won't help but it depends on the magistrate really. Get some left wing, lentil eating, guardian reading, menstrual tart and your fcuked. But you never know.
BUT You will find that you'll have no problems passing your test this time round. I only got one minor. Just don't go above 28 in a 30 and don't accelerate or brake to violently
The only problem you might have is booking a test. I was lucky. I only had to wait 10 days for my theory and 2 days for the practical.
Trouble is you'll never get insured now till you are at least 40

for a 1.3 caterham seven replica, third party, limited to 2000 miles.

Similar circumstances for me 12 years back, I actually got my company to write a letter to the court, (magistrates couldn't give a toss and threw the book at me anyway). I got 6 month ban and £750 fine for my trouble.
There's no easy way to say this, but i'm afraid your in the sh1t.
The insurance afterwards is the worst bit as has already been said!
Sorry to be so negative but prepare for the worst and hope for the best, IMO!

pace what did u get done for racing? yeh i know im screwed but for how long u reckon 12 month ban? oh and worst thing is if i have 2 take the test again getting out of the habit of crossing my hands over when going round corners. Also people how longs it usually take for the court summons come thru

you cant fail for crossing my hands over the wheel m8
its just the driving intrutors that tell you that.
like letting the wheel slid back on its own you wont fail unless you hit a pot hole andlose control.
most driving instructors talk out of there arss
never seen any one that learnt to drive, with a driving school that can park a car yet.

It's how I got my name! They had 4 of us and we were made an example of. I doubt you will get 12 month ban, sometimes people get a good result so as I have said hope for the best. Back then I didn't have to retake my test, things might be easier now. By the way, it took 11 months for my case to get to court from the CPS.

oh u got a letter sent threw saying appear in court in 11months?
cos i thought if u dont hear anything within 6 the case is barred and ur in the clear, doubt that will happen but ill hope
by the way how many points did u get?
and does it matter if i was on the proper side of the road? will my m8 who was on the wrong side get more ****ed? im guessing no

I was notified by the police of intended prosecution after about 3 weeks and had to go to the station soon after for an interview. The time between the offence being commited and my first court appearance was 11 months. My court case date came through from the CPS I think, but that as I say was many months later. As I understand it, the CPS has up to 1 year to get the case to court from the date of the offence.
As for points, I didn't get any. They just banned and fined me.
Your mate could theoretically get done for dangerous driving and racing on the public highway if they could proove the offence. But I very, very much doubt they will.

Letter from employer is nice, but everyone gets them these days. Approach now is if you cover high mileage, you should set more example. Guess what you want is to show loss to others. Only really works if you show more than the usual consequences of loss of licence, loss of job/mortgage problems doesn't cut it, Now expect sick/elderly family who rely on you as sole driver, or you employ other people who will become unemployed as your business will shut.
