Does anybody use one of these..or have a "friend" who does? I'm considering buying one for a Boxster, but am worried that it won't be moch use - the only place it coulb be positioned it under the numberplate, on the air intake, and that may be too close to teh ground.

any opinions? Sorry if this has been covered before...

I reckon you'd do better sticking to a decent detector and perhaps a Geodesy/Origin Blue I/Road Angel. That should deal with making sure you remember about the 30/40 limits at the right time.

Although I don't find it so hard to stick to the urban limits myself these days.

I take it you're worried about high speed blasts on long straights (e.g A55). I don't know how a diffueser would help really - surely you want warning time so you can brake, anyway?

I got my only ticket ever on that road in my old and s**t 911.

Him: Sir. Did you know you were doing 99.999999 mph. Would you care to argue with that speed?

Me: (In a small sqeaky voice). No!

3pts. £30. Bless him. He must have measured me two or three times during my braking to get a speed that low!

Don - lucky escape!

Actually, I'm thinking of a detector/difuser combination. Its more for places like along Embankment in London, where you can find yourself doing 40/45 suddenly, and then police jump out and zap you. I don't intend to drive it fast other than out of town, theres no point, but I'd like to avoid being done for something careless, rather than stupid. and on the routes round town, I know where the static cameras are.

Sure. Sure. Do you know it would be a LOT cheaper to switch on the Speed Limit Warning beeper that your On Board Computer has in it. Just set it to 33mph. Every time you get tempted to go over you get a nice little beep. I use it in extended 40s (at 43mph) to make sure I don't get careless.

There again it requires you to remember to use it whereas a Jammer/Detector is in action whilst the car is moving. Ah well.

Have you looked up the UK Speedtrap site? Very good reviews www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk. Don't think they've got anything specific to a Porsche though...

Not sure about other cars, but on Audi's the only way to turn the thing off is to stop, turn off the ignition and do some sort of Monty Python / Freemason action. Bloody anoying - so I just switched the thing off...

Cheers,

Paul
