I need to drive from London up north sometime soon. I plan to do it late at night (just so it doesn't take me 2 hours to get out of London), it would also be nice to take advantage of the clear motorways. Is there a website that points out 'areas of danger' so that a discerning driver like myself would be able to reduce the risk of any unwanted 'accidents'.
Don’t know of any specific websites covering motorways, but I regularly drive from London to Northants up the M1 at around 2am (I assume you would be using the M1 rather than M40). Usually takes about 30-40mins from joining M1 to junction 16 where I get off – never had any problems…yet. Would advise taking it easy past the service stations though, as that’s the only place I normally see any police presence. Other than that just watch out for sleepy numpties making unnecessary lane changes without using their mirrors. As far as I know (anybody know different?) the Northants mobile SCAMera team don’t work nights so you should be OK to keep your foot planted right into Leicestershire.
