The radar gun clocked a record speed for the UK

A motorcyclist caught speeding at 155mph - the fastest ever recorded on a police camera - was like "a blur" to other motorists.
Lee Beddis, 34, was picked up on a speed camera on his Y-registration Honda motorbike on the A465 Heads of the Valleys road, south east Wales.

A traffic police officer said the pressure wave from the speeding motorbike shook his patrol car.

At Cardiff Crown Court, Mr Beddis, a mechanic from Blaina, south Wales, admitted dangerous driving on the A465 between Gilwern and Abergavenny, a known accident black spot.

Told that he had escaped jail because he had a son, Beddis was sentenced to 180 hours community punishment and disqualified from driving for 12 months and also ordered to pay £25 prosecution costs.

Motorist John Bartlett told the court: "All I saw was a blur passing me at immense speed. He was going so fast I couldn't make out what kind of bike it was or what he was wearing. It gave me a scare."

Prosecutor Jane Rowley said: "Beddis was spotted by Pc Greville Phillips riding at very high speed on the 60 mph road. As the bike passed his parked police car it shook from the pressure wave."

In a statement, Pc Phillips confirmed that the incident had been the fastest speed captured by police camera on a British road.

He said: "In 25 years I've never seen such a high speed. the car shook as the bike went past."

Lee Ingham, defending, said: "It was a moment of spontaneous madness as he overtook vehicles before his turn off.

"Beddis owns a garage and his main hobby is riding motorcycles. He is not usually given to driving dangerously."

Judge Isobel Parry said: "I'm not jailing you because you have a nine-year-old son to support."

Eh?? I bet this is the guy that got scared by the Blair Witch Project.... how much of a pussy? Why is there always a nonce on hand when these people are looking for someone to quote?

What we never see is

Mel from Kent said, "it was brilliant.. he was really going for it.. that guy has massive gonads.. "

Carl from Hertfordshire said "I hope he kicked the copper who stopped him in the balls"
I wonder why..

Does anyone spot the flaw in the logic?

WHAT????? Can someone explain why that makes a difference?

Speaking of which..... Was driving to Brussels the other week, just as every German caravaner seemed to be returning to the Fatherland from the SOF.
Bit silly but you'd be suprised how much you can make those sheds swerve around when you pass by in the next lane at 160 (& I don't mean K's).

yeah how did the guy get caught, did he see the cop, stop a mile or two up the road and wait for him or did he turn round, go back and turn himself in.

Its never happened to me but I think I would have just slowed down a bit and carried on.

Yet again I am misquoted !!!!!

What I actually said to the reporter outside the court was:

"Yes he's a good rider with massive gonads, he was really going for it, but still couldn't catch me the handbag"

Regrettably it didn't happen - still at least he's not gone to prison, so he can have another go..

BTW - it was a motorbike... not a bloody jet airliner.. 'wiped families out'?? Only if they'd all stood in a line as a sacrifice to the god Kawasaki...

And so can a petrol tanker at 10 mph !!! It's all relative. (in fact maybe 180 hours community service would not be such a bad idea for the man from shell doing 40mph in a 30 limit)

I would respectfully suggest that unless you have done 155mph on a modern sports bike, or regulary ride at high speed you are infact talking out of your arse, and have indeed been brain washed by the Government/media bollocks about speed. Resulting in you seeing the figure 155mph with absolutely no consideration to the circumctances and condemming the man as a "w*nker"

For the record I have actually "got off" a bike at close to those speeds, run back to it, got it started and limped it to a pit lane before finishing the race (nett injury count bruised arse, hip, elbow, light friction burns on palms). By contrast do you even posses a full motorcycle license ????? Don't be blinded by the numbers.

The minimal facts as reported were "it was a 60mph National speed limit A road" hardly familes going for a stroll territory,
John Bartlett was "quite scared" if someone shouts bang when I'm not concentrating it makes me jump too, did it knock his flat cap off as well ??? PC Plod felt a "pressure wave" what complete shit if you've ever worked a pit wall on a decent straight you'll know what a "pressure wave" from a bike doing 150+ 2 feet away feels like and it's FA.

The closest I'll get to condemming the guy was he got caught and should have picked a better place with nobody about or seen plod.
