Can you guys please help...

I was late for work this morning and had an important meeting, so didn't take the usual route to work. There's a shortcut that I know that is geographically a few miles less, but goes through some houseing estates and past a couple of schools.

Anyway what I didn't know was that the Local plod have been speed trapping in this area, and unfortuantely just before 9.00am I was dodging the schoolkids and got zapped. I had been going quick, but was a little suprised that (once the policecar had cought up) I had been clocked at 138.

The officer wasn't best pleased, I offered him £100 to call it a day, but he wasn't interested, so I upped to to £250 to let me off with an SP30. At this point he told me that bribery wa an offence and started to have a look round the car.

He noticed that my offside front tyre was fairly bald and had only about 20 psi in it. I didn't know that you get 2 points a tyre for under-inflated tyres, and sure enough when he checked the back ones, they were too low as well.

His colleague meanwhile ha checked back to HQ on my numberplate and apparently I had been reported of 3 incidents of driving through red lights and 2 pedestrian crossings along the way that morning... well it was an important meeting..

Anyway the upshot of it is that I have now got 6 points for the Tyres to add to the 11 I already have, and have to appear in court in the near future.

Anyone got any idea how I can "get off" 'cos I need the car for work.

Cheers..

If this is not a wind-up (which I suspect it is), tough titty fella, you deserve 5 years loss of licence. If I'd have got to you first and seen your bald tyres you'd have been off the road and nicked. Bl***dy irresponsible B******! If It's a wind-up then I've been wound!!!

Has to be a wind up! I'd say that's the bribery bit that gives it away.
Nice one tho

Must be - I can't think of many 30 zones in UK that it would be possible to get to 138 on in an S2. For it to be a housing estate, you would need a good 3/4 mile or more to get to that speed (I'm guessing)

Cheers too, it was probably the glass of Gutedel, the fresh asparagus and sauce hollandaise that got me wound! If you don't know Gutedel get yer wine directory out and I'll send one if you can find out what it is! NO :wine:

It is quite amazing what you can do in those old Land Rovers you know. I mean I saw one the other day on the M11 doing 129 through the M11 roadworks....

So impressed I think I will need to get one...

Cheers,

Paul

P.S. Very funny and cant believe that anyone thought it was serious. Oh, and I guess that you had a point to make? Well and truely made there I think....

I like a challenge

There are two versions regarding the origin of Gutedel. One says it came from Turkey through Burgundy to Germany, the other version claims that it originated in Egypt where it is still grown as a table grape in the oasis of Fayum. From there it can be traced back to the Jordan Valley as archeological finds at Jericho suggest. lt was the Markgraf (count) Karl Friedrich von Baden who introduced it in 1780 from the Lake Geneva area to the district Markgraeflerland where it still covers 50% of the vineyards as a true Baden specialty for which reason is also called Markgraefler. Gutedel makes a light, pleasant and agreeable wine, usually dry and taken with meals but also used as a sipping wine.

Cheers
