Any of you out there had any experience with these?

I've read the various reviews which indicate the Bell is best etc, but I was wondering if any of you have had any trouble with the law for using one - I can just imagine the cops face as he see's you hurtle past and your speed appears to be --! Not that I hurtle though ;->

No seriously, any of you been stopped because you have one of these?

Cheers,

Rob

Come on gents? We could always talk of a 'friends' experience if we are a little afraid of upsetting other forum members.

have a look at this topic. The last post will point you to useful info on jammers.

I have a Snooper unit but I havent fitted it to my Tuscan yet; still trying to work out the best place to mount the head units.

Yes, but you should see the coppers face when he nicks you with a Vascar check, and you point out that jammers don't work with Vascar, or a calibrated speedo check either. Had one a while back, I've also had a few with detectors, some people just can't react quick enough, adds to the challenge (fun) really. So don't all start slagging me off I let them keep the stuff.

I'm well aware of the various mechanisms available to the police for speed detection other than radar and laser. I'm interested in laser jammers as they will hopefully protect me from the indiscriminate tickets that arise from the various revenue generating speed traps that use laser. I try not to use speed irresponsibly, in general I’m sure that if I was caught using a manned device i.e. Vascar, the officer in charge would have the ability to assess the situation and consider the appropriate action, rather than blanket prosecute due to an infringement irrespective of road condition and traffic density etc.

You fcan be charged with obstructing a Police officer in the execution of his duty if you are proved to be using a jammer.

Apparently there has not been a test case in the UK yet. Bit of a grey area. This is why I want to know if anybody has had any trouble with them.

From www.speed-trap.co.uk/FAQ/FAQ.htm

"There have been no reported cases on the use of laser jammers and there is no law outlawing them or there use. The only reference to an action brought by the police against a driver using a jamming device (although not a laser jamming device) was brought in 1999 under s5 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1947. This case established that provided radio/micro wave emissions did not attempt to transmit to a receiver whether specific or otherwise no offence had been committed. Therefore simply surrounding an object (e.g. a car) with transmitted radio/micro waves is not an illegal act notwithstanding the fact that the effect would be to disrupt the lawful use of another transmitting device (e.g. a radar gun). It seems to me that the same principle should apply to lasers but as far as I can tell this has never been tested in court."

Remember laser jammers were originally designed as a device to open garage doors from the comfort of your car and can be purchased and installed for this purpose.

So if I press my garage door opener button as I approach a speed trap I'll be invisible?
