... the seller knows this and that's why they urged you to cancel the return.

I'm like you tbh. I'd be pursuing this on principle, and I could care less it cost me way more in my time than the refund.
  • couldn’t.
A form used by some when the context is clear, but thanks for your suggestion.

Nah, 'couldn't' is the only acceptable way. Anything else is just too American.
Indeed, the accepted form is couldn't. Anything else is just vulgar.

I guess you've gotten me there.

Yep, it’s my sole aim and driving force in life to win an argument on the internet. I will now die a happy man.

I’ll ignore the use of ‘gotten’ as I don’t want to kick a man when he’s down. That just wouldn’t do.

That'll be 'gotten', derived from the Middle English 'geten', itself derived from Old Norse and Old English which was an export to the US, which preserved it whilst its use largely died out here, only for to be re-exported home in the last couple decade or so? The etymology of words is interesting, don't you think?

Brought kicking and screaming into the 21st Century by people who say, ‘Like, can I get a grande latte please’.

No, you may not ‘get’ anything. Apart from a swift thick ear perhaps.

Then, on principle, I'd be leaving negative feedback on their website, in complete detail, and reposting it every time they take it down, and they will! Add that onto your post, 'EVERY TIME YOU TAKE THIS DOWN, I'LL REPOST IT!' Ebay will probably object to you doing this on the Ebay site, so once or twice on there, then the company's site. Hammer the Scammer! hehe

  • If you have the time, keep at them until they refund you the other £5, as agreed! You now have a new hobby wink For a day or so anyway.** hehe
I know it's only a fiver, but they'll probably be doing the same to others, and need calling out on it! I'd be asking that question as well.

Please update when you get your £5 refunded! smile

Is it possible to ask e-bay to tell him off, so he at least knows there is a marker on his account? As another poster said, he could be doing this to others and be quids in. If you make that point to e-bay, they might make him sweat a bit at least?

I cancelled it and there was silence. I chased today and then was told refund had been processed. They have refunded me £5. So 25% of the price, and 25% less than the 50% offered and agreed.
I would tell them politely there must have been an admin error, quote their agreement to return £10 and say you look forward to completing the transaction as agreed. A deal is a deal in my book.

If they decline, you can always leave them -ve feedback stating they broke the arrangement.

Golly, some real tough tactics coming out here. Going straight to stern words without doing the usual "urging" stage.

Not worth the time arguing for a fiver. The seller has already lost a customer and a short honest review might mean they lose some more.
