Yes Yes - Another What Vacuum Cleaner Thread!! :)

Actually the question is . . .
Is the below the best value cleaner right now? To be honest I never thought Miele would have a machine at this lower end of the budget - seems excellent value.
Can I do better? It would be for a very small apartment & include accessories to get into corners etc.
I have gone off cordless so corded is a must.

CX1 for 134.50?
I have an older wired Miele cleaner and it is a great bit of kit.
Considerably better than the Dyson I had and the cordless Shark that the Mrs thinks is more convinient as it is 'cordless'

Yeah - every now & again I keep an eye on that Outlet/Refurbished document - changes quickly though! CX1 for 134.50?

It's a hard laminate floor with a couple of large rugs which I imagine the Miele above should be able to deal with just fine.
Yeah, that will manage fine, although for predominantly hard flooring I really can't fault our old Henry. I bought it almost 20 years ago as a student and it's just worked ever since. We do have a Dyson for the rugs but, to put it bluntly, it's crap and despite it's limited use is pretty high maintenance, always something needing sorted. Digger said:

We have an expensive habit of getting through vacuum cleaners every 12-18 months, even when our cleaner brought her own. We have had a few Hoovers, a Henry, a few Dysons, a Shark (the last one to die after 18 months). The Miele was one of the best as it lasted about 2 1/2 years
What on earth are you doing with them? I can understand the brittle plastic fantastic Dysons not lasting but how do you break a Henry?I've dropped ours down the stairs, hoovered up after endless building projects and even use it to clean out our fireplaces and wood burning stoves. It's still fine after 20 years!

Just got this last week (for £169). Keep an eye out for sales.

I know it's early days and my fun with the new toy may be short lived but this has Shark has been a revelation. Can't believe how much I extracted from the carpets in just one go!
Makes me feel ikky thinking how long we've been living with dirty carpets and a cordless vaccuum that seemingly just cleaned surface level and didn't look like it pulled up any hair.

That's a good deal and will be a good vacuum for that use case. Perhaps a turbo brush head for the rugs may be of use, but pure suction is all you need for hard floors.
As has been said, a powered brush bar is required for carpets, to agitate and properly clean the fibres. The X4 is a great Sebo, but the Felix is a better all rounder. Sebo tend to be the most durable and easy to maintain of the vacuum brands and will work as well as they did on day one in year 10.
The main thing is that bags and not bagless is chosen. The bag is the primary filter and keeps everything pretty clean. They are cheap in the grand scheme of things and only need replacing every few months, not every vacuum, like a bagless cleaner. Bagless cleaners lose suction and their filters need to be cleaned frequently and eventually replaced, at a fairly significant cost. The lack of general repairability of most bagless machines means that they end up breaking after a couple of years and end up in landfill. The price of bags then ends up being much cheaper than a replacement machine.
Finally, do you put your rubbish in a bin without a bin bag?
