Anyone built the Bolide? (42151)

I've been asked to build it for a chap at works son, I've never built a technic set, how much of a headache am I in for?

I have the Bolide - I don't remember it being particularly fiddly.

Took advantage of the Argos sale to get the Mclaren F1 (42141) plus cashed in Nectar points so I got it for £91

Really helpful in Argos and the lady got both from stock so I could pick the best box.

I've made the decision to sell my 42009 10 wheeled crane, it's on the for sale thread if anyone's interested.

Just a heads up that Tesco have a huge clearance sale on at the moment. Lots of Lego included. I just got the twin pack BMW M4 and le mans HyperCar for £27, down from £45.

When is the new big 1/8 car being launched? Do we know what it is yet or is it still Mclaren speculation?

People are saying it will be the P18, which itself might just be called the P1.

And that the set might be delayed until the actual P18 is revealed.

A turntable for the model, with a "P1" on it was leaked in the last week or so.

And there's a showing to trade buyers in the next couple of weeks. So maybe something will "leak" after that...

I had forgotten about that. I haven't bought the Lamborghini and the Ferrari because the real cars hold zero interest for me. Its not a forgone conclusion I will buy this, depends what it is.

I seem to be enjoy Creator Expert & Icons more than Technic at the minute.

I haven't bought a big Lego set for ages.

Last one was the Defender which, although an interesting and fun build, was just a gearbox on wheels.

If this year's is more than that, then I might take a punt - depending on price.

This is what's ruined Technic for me. I like some functionality but I never fancied being a gearbox builder and don't want to start now.

The little dirt buggy and the electric recycling truck are worth a look then.

I had a lot more fun building my event UCS A-Wing than any recent Technic build.

The lad (he's 36 ffs!) has just finished the crane I bought him for Christmas, I think it looks fantastic. Now of course, I've got to get him another...

He built it upside down redface
Australian edition wink
I'm coming round to the big crane more and more, personally speaking it didn't give me the "omg must buy" tingles when it was released but I did like it.

And now it's £399 on Amazon and Smyths.... wink

Ordered Concorde last night too! biggrin Got a bit of a backlog of sets to build now but I need to get more storage/display units first.
Now cheaper still, in fact it appears to be cheapest ever - £381.86 on Amazon.
Down to £395 just now in Smyth's, lowest I saw elsewhere was £460 otherwise.

Quite tempted to buy now, although I've got nowhere to display it at the moment and there's a queue of models to be done. Currently building Ecto-1 biggrin

And at some point I'm going to have a crack at all my childhood sets, raided my parents' loft and came back with 2 small suitcases, a large pc box and 3 other boxes full of bits.

Ho boy.

Let's see how it compares with the Cada version, their Alfa F1 is great. Or it is the new P1 replacement?
