Anyone else on the M3 this morning see the white Tesla with a flat tyre?

Surely those clever cars, clever enough to find their own charger, can change their own wheels?

Did that seem funny in your head?

The Golf 8 does the same (Diesel) so don't buy a diesel!
As stated, fuel isn't the issue. The software for lane assist still isn't good enough for production.
You mean the Golf 8 does the same, take care and maybe get it booked in and checked?

As stated earlier I wouldn't use lane assist no matter what was powering the car.
The KIA/ Hyundai lane keep assist is excellent, non-intrusive but there when you need it.

It’s off by default but I turn it on pretty much all the time. It doesn’t interfere with your driving but takes over if it needs to. Very well calibrated.

Volvo/ Polestar system is also excellent. Have done well over 25k motorway miles with it engaged for pretty much all of it. Diesel and now recently EV.

But that's a whole other thing, not at all relevant to what powers a car....

How do you find the Polestar? My wife actually likes them (she is not an EV fan) as do I. I think its a good looking car. I'd be interested in knowing what your range is and how you find it, eg ride quality/handling. One of the reasons I post on this page is the ability to get feedback on the experience of EV users (as a non EV owner but potential future EV owner) Cheers.

From what I've seen the polestar is a good car, but a bit of a dull drive?

Tell that to the folks that think they are intellectually superior because they own an EV. So far I've seen posts about the decline in average IQ and much more abuse targeted at people that simply don't want EVs at the moment. I agree, it's just a car and no one is getting an award from the Mensa Foundation
Don't worry too much, relax. It's not that bad. I don't think people are out to make fun of you or your IQ.
I think you're disasterising a little.
It's just the IQ of the EV drivers that keep running out of charge that's questionable

I don't see any need to drag women into this.

From your article less than 1% of ICE drivers run out of fuel and for EVs it's been between 2.3 - 8.5% depending on the year. EV drivers just seem to struggle with range and running out. Rather than BIK incentives, maybe the govt needs to give tax breaks on maths lessons with every EV purchase going forwards

We could probably do with IQ tests before being allowed to post on internet forums as well.

The number of 'out of charge' EV breakdowns was running at 8% of all EV breakdowns four years ago and dropped to 4% of breakdowns last year. This year the figures have dropped further and are running at just 2.1% of EV breakdowns (Source: AA).

I got one after the big MY24 refresh, which improved the battery tech and increased range. I wanted a Long Range Single Motor - which is now RWD not FWD after that refresh - but Octopus offered a deal too good to turn down on a Long Range Dual Motor, so - had to grudgingly accept 416bhp vs. 295bhp...

I am about 600 miles in and seeing 26.5 kwh /100 miles, converts to just under 3.8 miles per Kwh. Means pretty much exactly 300 miles real world range, but that is literally 100% > 0%, which you wouldn't do. I read the single motor version is more efficient, and i saw numbers on my test drive of that car which would suggest 330 miles is easy enough. Road testers talk about 300 miles + regularly being achievable on the MY24 LRSM.

As a car - positives are the controls and user interface. Key things still have a button, and "hey google" actually work for stuff that isn't. First voice control ever used in a car that you just rely on. Also first car in some time where i don't need to press *any* buttons before driving off. No changing modes, or turning off driver aids - it just remembers it. Interior quality in general is very high quality.

Negatives are packaging and ride quality. Packaging as it's still ultimately a re-engineered road car - you have a pointless transmission tunnel, and my left leg isn't as comfy as i'd like. And it just too stiff - even on 19" wheels.

How does it "handle" - no idea to be honest. Whilst i think this is on paper the fastest car have ever owned, and i think the most powerful - beyond a couple of blasts to surprise /frighten passengers, I just don't have any desire to drive it quickly. So no idea what does approaching a limit - understeer a lot i assume.

So i'd recommend one, overall - but buy wisely. MY24 only (so the smooth vs. black panel in the grille), pilot pack for self driving; plus pack for excellent sound system, and i'd go LRSM for the added range - but I value 10% added range more than a 4.3 second 0-60 time, but that's just me.

From reading your prose your issue is more around EQ IMO.

Great, thanks. I can't remember which version they had on Car WOW recently but from memory it did over 300 miles, about 320 I think. I like EVs which look like traditional saloons, so the Polestar and Tesla M3 rate high on my list.

Depends how you approach these Forums (and indeed any "Web" thing accessible by anybody).
Most people are doing this in their "spare time" so it's a "hobby".
It's a bit of fun, coupled with a sense of imparting information, some of which may be useful to some people.
Anyone who expects to like every post on here is doing it wrong. Go and watch EastEnders.

I hope BYDs battery tech has improved as they are one of the manufacturers leading the charge.

I know this is a Daily Mail article but please take care if you have an MG4 (lane assist).

It's terrible. I can well believe it's forceful enough to pull the steering wheel out of an old lady's hands.

Mine regularly tries to steer the car, once towards the central reservation across a solid white line.

It also sees the arrows on the inside lane and I'd guess tries to take the exit more often than not.
I’ll give Mighty Badger this one. I posted on here my experience of ownership of an MG4 Trophy for 9 months and 17k miles from June 2023 to March 2024. The system would if passing a cyclist with my right indicator on steer violently towards the cyclist requiring me to fight the steering wheel. It once tried to steer me through traffic cones at 50 mph on the M5 contra flow into oncoming traffic near the RAC control centre. The emergency braking would slam the brakes on at 30 mph as you passed a parked car if it saw a pedestrian on the opposite footpath or it felt you had made an error. The ferocity of this emergency stop was also more extreme as I believe EVs brake on the motor too. After literally dozens of these incidents it got to the stage it was like a white knuckle ride. I contacted MG Customer Service who after many exchanged emails suggested there was nothing wrong with the system and that the car was clearly a better driver than me and I should adjust my driving style. Whilst I don’t lay claims to being a driving god I am more than competent and have driven over a million miles in 40yrs on several continents. Fortunately my lease company felt MG putting these comments in writing was justification that they were not worth dealing with. The car was rejected by them and they gave me 50% of my lease costs back too. I have had the Smart #1 since and it is better in every way.

What I do find interesting is that as this was Which and they have also spoken with MG and NCAP that the same MG now acknowledge that there is an issue with the very systems I raised issues with and they have been working on a fix which requires approval. Absolute cock sockets.
