My 350Z always reminded me, bear with me here, on the drastically overacting thespians in Blackadder, all noise, attitude and posturing, but not actually all that fast. Not slow but they sound way faster than they are, things have moved on as well, plus they aren't very tunable unless you start putting superchargers or turbos on.

The blaring exhaust (Cobra one I fitted) and the noise of the engine, but never seemingly going all that quickly afterwards.

An example,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g546A0aQmI8

Still, nailed the Micra, dont think I went much over seventy, slowed down in-between as coppers lurk there, ask Mrs J4CKO....
I needed a tip run car/van/tow slag so obviously I bought a 2003 Cayenne S for £700 and then cut off the rear silencer (the only silencer in the system) and added straight pipes. It's hilariously, comically loud, with that hard edge DOHC V8 that makes it almost like a supercar.... as it takes over 7 seconds to creep up to 60mph. It can just, and I do mean just, edge out a 2007 MX5 in a straight line.

The contrast of the enormous noise and the relative lack of forward progress makes it even funnier, but I don't think I'd like having the same experience in my actual car that isn't just a joke. That 350Z video put me very much in mind of my Cayenne hehe
You've both got me thinking back to my old X5 4.8iS now. That also made a load of noise(and piled through fuel like it was going out of fashion), but it never felt as quick as the noise it made though either.

My wife has had 2 of these. great cars, i had my mk4 supra n/a at the same time and they felt very similar to drive. Great noise and with a few mods can be good fun.

it says in the article that no limited edition version cars, the yellow one is a GT4, limited run in either yellow or black. Largely the same as a gt spec car but with different wheels and a slight lift in power.

Love the Yellow Gt4 models. Quite rare now and probably worth more than this particular car for sale.

Same, and I remember sitting in a new one years back at the Autosport show at the NEC. I had some serious want for it for sure. cool

That said. I may have been spoiled by turbo diesels. The 370z didn't feel pacey even compared to my s40 diesel.
I've said this before, but it can be a bit of a nightmare if you go to overtake a turbo petrol or a turbo diesel car and they stick their foot down. I've had this a few times in the past in mine. I've always managed to get past, but I've certainly had to work for it though.

Overtaking is a damn sight easier in the F82 M4 in comparison to be fair.
I can remember ‘Drivers Republic’ ( remember that! ) reviewing the 350z vs the BMW 123d coupe at the Ring Lee

J4CKO is closer to the truth in my experience.
I'm in the middle of that with the 370 at 22mpg.
Not sure I've ever managed to get my Nismo below a genuine 26mpg even with the cruise control set to 100+ but I do run it almost exclusively on Shell V-Max.

In fairness I'm only going with what the fuel computer says. It had 22mpg on it when I got it over 5 years ago, and it is still showing 22mpg. I always use Tesco 99...because I'm not rich enough to pay Shell 99 prices! hehe

I'm not sure the local Tesco sells 99 and it's a pita to get to anyway so I use the Shell garage instead, when I pulled the plugs with 52k on them they were like new so it must be doing some good.

Shell 99 is good stuff as you say, and I used to use it years back in the 200SX.

A 350Z was on my shortlist 10 years, but before I tried one I had a drive in a BMW Z4 Coupe and fell in love with it so I bought one of those.

I'm surprised how thirsty the Nissans seem to be though. In over 5 years my 3 litre Z4s averaged well over 30 mpg. Even the M Coupe I moved onto in 2019 manages about 27 mpg!

While that looks like a good example, £15K seems ambitious to me.

Still anything N/A with 6 cylinders, manual gearbox and RWD has to be fun!

Was a fan of its predecessor but never driven a 350Z,remember watching this vid years back and being very tempted to jump into one.

Remember that video from I got mine, impressive how the 350Z keeps the much more powerful M3 at bay but maybe a bit of Japanese bias there ?

Also impressive how it was so much closer to the GTR than you would expect.

But that whole video is so nostalgic as its like a Gran Turismo replay made real, the cars, the track and grainy visuals.

I borrowed one for my recent Euro Trip. We spent two days in Switzerland, two days in Italy in the Dolomites, two days in Austria on the Grosseglockner pass and one day in Germany. The Z was great. Comfortable cruiser when on the motorway/payage and then as people said came alive in the bends. The steering feel is pretty good and the car would really dance in the bends. Which was surprising as the car felt heavy, but hid it's weight well on the bends. We hit all manner of roads from tight, twisty and technical to fast sweepers. The Z was a great companion on the trip.

This is my favourite Best Motoring with the 370z:

I always remember hearing a 370Z Coupe years ago with an aftermarket exhaust on it. It sounded absolutely ace, and I knew that I had to get one eventually. My 370Z Roadster also sounds ace with its custom stainless exhaust/hi flow cats/stillen intakes too, and the noise it makes is my favourite part about it for sure. cloud9

Mine is a bit heavy going roof up noise wise though(boomy/droney), however I only drive it roof down because it is an occasional car though.

I had all three iterations....276/301/313ps. For an early (276ps) example, this is overpriced....looks like owner is trying to recoup on the additions - Volks wheels and exhaust....which I keep on being told by dealers is a no no when ever I try to sell a modified one - on the 313 I had I stuck a plenum, imported Volks wheels from USA (back in the day when the exchange rate was oh so good), NISMO exhaust and a lightweight flywheel. Never recouped the costs so why should this one be any different?:-) Seller has tried to recoup costs on the boots also....stuck ditchfinders on.

Engine was ok but wheezy the further up the rev range you went. The bluff face of the front spoiler was a stone chip magnet.

These cars are never going to appreciate...not special enough....especially when you can import the 'Fairlady'.

Buy a cheap one. Go Stage 3 and have a bit of fun.

Interesting wrinkle: In 5 years this car will be 25 years old and fair game for self-import by punters in the States. Will the fast and furious minded there hoover up all the RHD examples? (because cool)
I can see a market for the low mileage, rare versions of the 350Z, like JDM Nismo or a 380R, actual collector cars, but normal 350Z I just can't see. The 350Z was sold in large quantities in the US and they have plenty of them for cheap, it would not be economically viable for them to import a normal one. There might be 1-2 imports if someone finds a bargain though.

I really like the 350z, they look distinctively cool, and they are pretty unique here in the UK. It is in my next shopping list of "cheap sports cars that do not tend to have expensive mechanical failures" for sure, next to Mx5, GT86 and S2000
