Just watching Peak Motorcycles on the Tube. He dies a few sections of the TET. This is exactly what I was thinking.

I’m starting to look at deals on the 300 CRF.
Plenty use them but they're gutless, I'd rather have a 690 enduro - similar weight with more than twice the power

CRF300 is the most popular bike used in the TRF. It has taken Itchy Boots from South America to Alaska, Morocco to Zambia. Her smaller CRF250 took her from Joburg to Cape Town and then up to Namibia across to Zimbabwe. All fully laden.

Admittedly they are lower powered, but if all you with to do are Green Roads, they are pretty perfect.

If you fancy a more enduro focused bike, then any manufacturers modern Enduro 250-350 offerings are more than enough.

Twice the price too. People get the CRF's because they are cheap.

My first 690 cost me £3,500

It may be older, but it was cheaper than the CRF300

@KTMsm. Genuine question and not wanting to provoke. How have you found reliability over the years with different KTMs.

Personally I've had no problems - I deal in bikes and sell a lot of KTMs, never had one come back under warranty - for me the worst has been BMW

Maybe 10% of 790s had issues, some 1190s didn't seal well around the air box, 690 dashes crack. If you do a bit of research, it's easy to know what the problems are and most are annoyances rather than disasters, with the exception of 790 cams

All my personal bikes are KTMs 450, 525, 990 SM and Adventure, 1190 SAS plus a 701 which is basically a KTM biggrin

Good, look at the mess they’ve made of a lane that’s there for all of us to use, selfish s. There a few lanes near me that are impassible when all the green laners have churned them up. Even when it’s dry they make a mess.

How exactly do you think a motorcycle has caused that ?

What percentage of footpaths & bridleways can motorcycles access in the UK ?

I think it's about 2%

If you put 100% the 4x4 and motorcycles on 2% of lanes, what do you think happens ?

I suggest the solution is opening up all the lanes, thereby spreading the load and reducing the damage

By the way, challenging lanes are what makes it fun biggrin

That's drainage first and foremost. No drainage upkeep = boggy mess.

Then the DCC come in and say evil bikes have ruined it for all access users (walkers, horse riders and disabled wheeled users).
