Oliver’s usually a decent ref but he’s making a massive pigs ear of this.
In what way?

He spotted the block in the build up to the Danish goal immediately and ruled out the goal. VAR checked it and agreed. And Oliver was right, it was a clear foul Then it was VAR that called the offside, not Oliver. VAR asked Oliver to check the screen for a poss handball. Under the current rules, it was handball. His hand is away from his body and he moves his hand towards the ball after the ball has been kicked. So the ref gives the pen in accodence with what the rules are, not what we think they should be.

VAR ruining the game, ably supported by English officials.

Completely wrecked what looked like a classic match in the making.

Offside is bks. No way can they be that accurate about when the ball was played. Handball decision even worse. You may as well just start kicking the ball at opposing players rather than try to score. Penalty should have been disallowed as Havertz stopped his run to the ball.
Trouble is it opens up the opportunity pf claims of match fixing, because when Denmark were on top, two very marginal VAR decisions gifted the game to Germany, the hosts

Sadly true, VAR application has been dreadful in this competition.

Spot on.

This current state of affairs is very damaging to football.

It really has the combination of rules, technology and decision making protocols wrapped around it’s neck.

Indeed, much as it pains me to say.

I was watching the match in a pub in Copenhagen. Stupid VAR and then that “handball” killed the match and the mood. Ridiculous.

It's interesting to note how many people are upset with the rules, referees and VAR yet none of them have a word to criticise the cheating bds who dive, grab shirts, block players, time waste, kick opponents...

That’s bks. I’d love to see time wasting clamped down on, stupid penalty kick run ups, players (defenders & midfielders are often the worst) who fall over as soon as an opposition player gets near them should be penalised too.

I have been watching yellow cards being dished out like confetti, and it struck me that there is no real sanction. A 10 minute sin bin would work wonders I should think.

I'm sorry but most players do actually correct their behaviour if they're at risk of a ban for another yellow card. Conversely, cheating is just part of the game, like in pretty much all sports. When I played if I didn't hack someone down that was running through on goal I'd be bang in trouble with the gaffer after the match - these things will never change.

Thanks. I have never played so it's interesting to get that view.

Also bear in mind accumulated yellows gets you banned from a next game

Not sure of rules this time, usually resets after group stages

I think players can feint and stutter all they like until the reach the ball at which point they mustn't feint/stutter.

Annoying but within the rules ATM. Wish it wasn't.

Feinting within the run up is allowed in the LOTG.

Feinting at the end of the run up isn't.

I don't agree with it either.

Fair enough. It’s disappointing ting when matches seem to be decided by ruling out as many goals scored from open play as possible, whilst simultaneously awarding as many penalties as possible, plus giving as many chances as the forward needs to score.

Plenty on here have stated that's actually where with the VAR technology, they could do something about it with post-match yellows/reds etc being applied, and that crap would soon stop if players knew they were going to get a 3 match ban imposed post match for any unsporting behavior/cheating etc.....
BUT.....again, its the rule makers and people running the sport are choosing to ignore that side of the game in preference to killing the game with VAR instead.

Football is a business now, not a sport.

Here are all the yellow, red card rules explained of the Euro 2024 knockout stages:

Yellow Card: In Euro 2024, if a player gets two yellow cards, he is suspended for a game. Similarly the player is suspended for the second time if he gets four yellow cards.

(PS: All yellow cards are reset, previous cautions are wiped at the end of the quarterfinal stage, hence no player will carry the risk of a yellow-card suspension into the semifinal. )

Red Card: In Euro 2024, if a player gets a red card, he is sent off from the game and is automatically suspended for the next match.

CAN A PLAYER MISS EURO 2024 FINAL?

A yellow card in the quarterfinal is wiped off if a team qualifies, but a red card will suspend the player from the final if a ban of two or more games is handed out.
If a player is red carded in the semifinal, he will miss the final

I would love to see players brutally made an example of over diving and theatrics. Use VAR to punish and embarrass them.
