Oh...

Castles historically had towns attached to them, normally inside outer defensive walls.

I'm not long back from Conwy which is a fantastic example

Yeah, I get it. Was just surprising given that 99% of the photos of it, make it look like it's very rural and secluded.

Ripley is lovely. Yes, it has cottages and buildings surrounding it, but its a lovely little village, ice cream shop, generally some walkers pottering about, a nice pub/hotel, and hosts a lovely proper agriculturual show/gala (great vintage tractor display!).

Its not a Castle adjoining a B&M home bargains...

Very nice, but it's that big I'd have to implant Apple AirTags into the missus and kids.

Apparently Jason Statham has been interested in Mayfield Hall.

It didn't get many comments, but I really like it.

Some nice features on this Modern new build, not sure about the red, but guess it makes it pop

All that brick around the fireplace would give me a headache. Nice house though.

Yup. I like, same comment on fireplace. That would be clad/painted under my ownership.

Nope, try as I might I can't warm to that sort of building at all. Best place to be would be inside so at least you don't have to look at it!

Just not homely in any shape or form. At least I won't be offering competition to anyone wanting to buy it, good job we are all different.

Whereas that sort of building is my ideal country home. Exterior would be an olive green and covered in rambling roses/Boston ivy, mind. In the middle of a few acres with a great view, of mountains or water. Perfect.

Wouldn't be difficult to do something with that fireplace.

Cracking house, I like it.

I'd be nervous at encroachment there - seem an awful lot of big holes being dug, and the village of Leicester is close. Decent new build though, with identikit furnishing. A lot of spend - must be better around the East Midlands for less?

Let me put it this way...

Under the main house is an impressive 10-car garage with heated quarry tile floor. Accessed through an electric door there is provision for car washing within the garage.
See where I'm coming from with this? hehe

So the main house is more than 12,000 sft, and it's only got four bedrooms?

As a couple, we've always needed more reception space than bedrooms, but this takes it a bit too far.

It is lovely, though.
