I just had a quick look and it's mad... people saying they drove for fours hours and then waited for two or three hours to get in!
These people need to take a long, hard look at how they spend their free time.
They're not free, their time is consumed by celeb gossip fed to them by the media with such intensity that their weak minds start to think it must all be important.

I'll happily argue that the farm shop should be allowed and that if course the celebrity attachment is fantastic for marketing it. But I can't begin to understand why a person would go significantly out of their way to be there.

If a person enjoys the TV show and they like the support it lends to farming then... they should go to their local farm shop and markets!! That's by far the best way to support any positive effects the TV show can have.
Certainly agree with the last paragraph. As for celebrity I can't understand why people buy those gossip magazines and the like.

We're all different. People go to , say, Cleethorpes for holidays, their choice, but wouldn't dream of talking about and denigrating them in the manner many have discussed JC's customers on here.
Anyone driving 4 hours to queue for a small, poorly-stocked farm shop in the hope of seeing the back of Caleb's head deserves to be denigrated.
Driving 4 hours in the hope of viewing the back of Caleb's head said nobody ever. Except you.

Agreed. That's mental.

I really like the show and am a fan of Clarkson in general but what would make you want to drive for hours, then queue to visit a small shop/burger van?

What would make people fly half way around the world to take a selfie infront of a shop in Knightsbridge and maybe pop in to buy something ridiculously expensive and get the green bag to put it in?

Or what makes people fly to New York and go to a department store so they can take selfies and maybe pop in to buy something ridiculously expensive and get the little brown bag to put it in?

Diddley Squat isn't just a farm shop it's a tourist attraction. Some people like to visit tourist attractions.

You're comparing tourists travelling to twi of the worlds most famous cities, where they can absorb themselves in the atmosphere and culture for an entire holiday, with visiting a farm shop that happens to be owned by a bloke off the telly..?

Yep. It's two ends of the same mentaliity. There are people who will do it. As evidenced by the number of visitors + associated problems at DSQ. It's not just any old farm shop, the TV programme has elevated its status. These people aren't travelling 4 hours because they need to buy some carrots.

It's the same mentality, to a degree. But in terms of value of time spent... It's very different!

Uh oh, you’ve fked it now. IT IS NOT a tourist attraction, that would need different planning permission. It’s just a farm shop, nothing to see here council…

129. For the reasons given above and having considered all matters raised I conclude that Appeal A should succeed in part only, and I will grant planning permission for the change of use of the land to a mixed use, comprising agriculture, café, farm shop, parking and lavatory facilities, but otherwise I will uphold the notice with a correction and variations and refuse to grant planning permission in respect of the other part of the matters (namely the restaurant use in Lowland Barn).

I disagree... lots of people on here will go out for a 'sunday/early morning hoon', lots of people will argue that that is pointless and people should "...take a long, hard look at how they spend their free time..."

I had a drive out down there to see what the fuss was about and enjoy the area. Got there and it was madness (I can see why the locals are a little miffed with inconsiderate wkers abandoning their cars along a country lane) so didn't bother queueing etc. The thought of seeing the sainted Jezza & co didn't enter the equation to be honest

Until you watch next season, and realise you really need to ga back to planting something else!

It seems to me that the British weather is a complete lottery now, and any semblance of four definable seasons is long gone!

Guilty!

To be fair we were driving from London to the Cotswolds and had time to kill before checking in at the place we were staying so it was just a minor detour.

I won’t be going back though - not worth it at all.
