Get Out - on Netflix.

Really enjoyed it. Quite awkward at times and a scary last ten minutes.

Nope - also on Netflix.

Gave it 20 minutes then stopped and "remove from continue watching".
For me, Get Out is his best effort so far by a mile. Nope was interesting but I need to see it again.

The Watchers - Shyamalan's daughter, starring Dakota Fanning

Interesting premise played out a little slowly, and very predictably. The usual Shyamalan twisty-thing is there but very muted and mostly guessable.

I think it'd be far more interesting if the story actually continued beyond where it stopped.

It hasn't had great reviews but I think it's worth a watch... once.

A Sacrifice - Sky Premier

A Sky original starring Eric Bana and directed by Ridley Scotts daughter.

Set in Germany, Bana is a psychologist who is helping with a police case of people killing themselves.

Meanwhile his daughter has flown over from the states to stay with him, however she meets a boy who turns out to be part of a cult and starts to get in deep with them.

The first hour is boring, however it then starts to pick up for the final 20 odd minutes, but you might have switched off by then.

Only the slightly better ending saved this from being entire dog poop

4/10

A Quiet Place Day 1

Disappointing really, probably the worst of the franchise so far. No real sense of jeopardy or investment in the main characters and eventually I was hoping that at least one of them would be eaten just to liven things up. The cat was good though.

thumbup

Had seen bits of things like The Lady Killers etc. but I’ve never sat and watched a whole one from that start.
Will definitely be seeking them out. Thanks smile

The One Ranger (Prime)

McLoud set in London(ish) and with more machine guns/swearing. Took a few looks at the phone to get to the end, not quite bad enough to turn it off but must be better ways to spend the time.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare

Kinda WW2 film for 'modern audiences' a bit slow going and despite the added characters for 'modern audiences' was fairly enjoyable.

6.5/10

Its on Amazon in US
It's really pants, don't bother!
Is this a hollywood remake of the SAS: Rogue Heroes series from a year or two back, or based on something different?

Yeh it was all a bit "meh". I suppose to be expected given it doesn't have the "different" factor of the first.

Feels like there shouldn't be anymore to me.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is supposedly based on a book called Churchill's Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Churchills-Secret-Warrior...

The book SAS: Rogue Heroes by Ben Macintyre was turned into a series using the same name.

Furiosa

Watched it Friday night. I wasn't expecting much, I've not watched any Mad Max stuff since the original movie way back when.

But was immediately impressed with the slightly comic style of the filming so decided to stick with it, ended up watching it all the way through and enjoying it, usual sign of a movie you're enjoying being that the 2+ hours seemed to pass very quickly.

7/10 for me.

The Watchers

M Shyamalan produces, daughter directs (hope I've got that the correct way round).

Mystery/fantasy/chiller. If you go down to the woods make sure you're out by nightfall.

Decided to have a Broken Lizard weekend. Super Troopers, Club Dread and Beerfest, which of all the films they made is still my favourite.

Also surprised to see they are all still together and making films, I'm guessing this style of comedy is out of date in modern Hollywood? The TV show Tacoma FD was a half decent effort, Quasi though seemed a bit of a mess.

In Bruges
I've seen it before but apparently so long ago I couldn't actually remember any of the plot. A decent film only slightly let down by Colin Farrel's eyebrows. Starts slow with not a lot happening as Farrel and Brendan Gleeson as 2 assassins sent to hide out in Brugge and wait further instructions from a rather psychotic Ralph Fiennes, but picks up nicely. Blink and you miss Ciarán Hinds in a role that's so short I don't think he's even in the credits biggrin

Ambulance (2022)

I'd ignored this as just another Michael Bay shoot them up but someone said it should be viewed as a comedy so I gave it a go.

I'm convinced it's a satirical pisstake on the heist genre. From the references to other Bay movies, Jake Gyllenhall chewing the scenery, the Heat style heist that immediately descends into farce, the barefoot bank robber that felt like a pisstake of Brodies brother from Point Break, the bonkers premise (a bank robbery in the present day, even questioned when the FBI agents therapist says "bank heists? People still do those?"), the absurdity of everyone trying to keep this one cop alive whilst leaving this wake of destruction without a single fk being given to anyone involved, the mental surgery scene, the respraying of the van into lime green and the comedy sneaking away and so on.

It was sold as a serious Heat-esque action thriller but it's more National Lampoon's Heat.
