Here's a tenuous link. I'm related to a knight who fought in the Crusades.
No desire at all to pee on your chips, but aren’t most of us? I seem to recall that some 98% of the Western European population (at least the white population) can trace back to Charlemagne himself.
I would cast a little doubt on 98% but it wouldn't surprise me if most of us have ancestors who fought in the crusades. I can only lay claim to 'knight'.

But I guess a direct, ie unbroken, male descent could be trickier to establish and statistically at lot more interesting.
Yes, there was a clear male line up to my great grandfather.

Is he famous though?
Famous? Probably not in modern terms although the records that were found would suggest he was a noble. Not an A-List royal but probably a C-List Country Squire.
All you need to do is find a link to some landed gentry. The family trees going up from there are usually very well documented
Apologies I missed this. My problem is that the records are Belgian / Luxembugger / French / Swiss so it's a bit of a tangled web to sort out.

Friend of mine is close friends with Jools Holland and a bunch of other music celebs. Got us tickets and a backstage pass to one of the gigs where we got to hang out with Jools and the band and drink their rider. 'Twas a good night! beer

My mum's cousin's daughter's partner/boyfriend is the son of a fairly well known actress from the 1970s, his step father has been in several Marvel films, and he is a theatrical agent for, among others, Jack Whitehall. When they visited for my mum's 90th birthday he brought a magnum of champagne that Jack had given him.

My sister's friend's mum was the daughter of a high ranking SS officer. She ate strawberries with a certain A. Hitler on her 6th birthday.

I read that as 'and drank their cider' but I may have been right I suppose. biggrin Sounds a good night and someone I'd choose for the imaginary 'what guests would you invite to dinner?' as I'm sure he'd have plenty of stories to tell.

That offends me. My grandfather died in the war.

He fell out of the watchtower.

Reminds me of a neighbour I used to have. She told me that her father was a bomber pilot in the war, I asked her if she knew what he flew, she said she thought that it was Heinkel's smile

That most famous of the 1970s music groups, Lieutenant Pigeon, were supplied with their pigeon by a close family friend. It was unnamed, and had a moderate infestation of lice or similar.

Coventry hasn't changed much.

We were having a conversation at work about who’s met famous people, there were a couple of good ones mainly around ex footballers and one of the women in the office used to sell Betty off Coronation Street nail varnish every Saturday in a shop in Altrincham.

My having a piss next to Bryan Robson was trumped by a colleague who unblocked Shaun Ryder’s drains once when they were blocked.

My friend is working at Glastonbury and he saw Paul Heaton last night while (my friend) was emptying the bins.

I hope that's tenuous enough. biggrin
