My ex had a PhD in Quantum Physics with a specialism in 2D materials, but also a lot of time spent in astrophysics. I used to pose questions like this regularly to wind her up. If the moon landing was faked I think the Russians would have been able to prove it and then use it to discredit the USA so for me it did happen.

Even if you can't get your head around the technology arguments, this is the most obvious proof that the missions were genuine. The Russians would have made mincemeat of the Americans if they thought for one moment there was any doubt about the missions.

I think the bigger question is not whether this happened or not, as there is no credible doubt, but rather why do some feel so strongly that they need to disprove it? Is it simply a mistrustful nature combined with a wild imagination?

Currently around 50% of voters in the US believe that Trump is suitable to be the president again (despite Trump being Trump and his record). It seems that a significant number of people lack any semblance of critical faculties.
