Does anyone have any recommendations for an all-inclusive beach holiday in October? For 2 adults.

We haven't really been away for about 4 years due to COVID and a load of family stuff and recently things have come to a head and assuming things work out in the next few months, we are just going to bite the bullet and go away.

We usually head towards the Caribbean, but I know that the rainy season is around then. We loved Mexico, but wouldn't prefer not to go to the same place twice.

Requirements are 10 - 14 days with a beach and "enforced downtime" and minimal rushing about, stress and worrying about expenses etc. so no city breaks.

We are considering Mauritius, but we have a lot of family there and it may become 2 weeks of being carted around from relative to relative.

Will be coming to the end of the rainy season in Thailand, Cambodia, Southern Vietnam if you can stomach a 12 hour flight.

Crete.
I personally wouldn’t go AI but there are plenty of good ones and the weather is usually very good in October. The sea is also warm.

We're heading to Barbados in late October for 2 weeks for a family wedding. With a Baysan family we have been assured the weather will be good albeit with the risk of Carribbean rain as we call it.

The Canaries maybe a good shout - have a look at some of the better hotels and perhaps keep away from the bigger resorts

Haha. The destination of the unimaginative insta generation. I’d cut my balls off than go there.

Glad you said that. I’d rather swim in a pool of my own excrement than go to that place. biglaugh

this

Its not somewhere you take your missus
but ideal if you are in your fifties (like me) wanna hang out at pool parties with really fit young birds or sit on one of the fake beaches looking at the above, eyeing up the prostitutes in the bars, shoot a Glock and race dune buggies. No fat minging birds there so thats a bonus over the UK. Other than that there are much much better places in the world to take your beloved for a memorable beach holiday your will both never forget.

Good shout. Starting to cool down that time of year, loads of great hotels you can relax in with incredible service and won't need to lift a finger. If you want something a bit quieter, you can head to Ras Al Khaimah instead which is like Dubai's calmer younger brother.

As per usual I see this thread is sadly full of the anti-Dubai brigade, most of whom have never been there nor know anything about it apart from what they read in the Daily Mail...

Vvv nice choice - however, I think it's probably too quiet and isolated for 10-14 days. The infrastructure is also not great and neither are most of the restaurants - but it's a nice boho vibe for 4 - 5 days.

Tulum instead would have been a nice choice pre-covid but now it's ridiculously expensive. And full of annoying Americans.

Rhodes/Lindos might be another interesting choice to consider? One of the quieter towns with some nice small beaches, everything walking distance, loads of nice restaurants and some nice boutique hotels popping up.

To be fair it's probably more what its perceived to be like on social media rather than anything to do with daily mail readers. I'd like to visit just to see for myself but it does come across quite council from a lot of what I see online.

Dubai divides opinion, but in my learned experience, I can spot the difference between informed opinion and uninformed opinion on the place. Many of the posters above are parroting something they've heard lot's of other people parrot - there's safety in the crowd. Human nature that we see replicated daily in other current affairs.

Dubai can be a great holiday destination, i'm generally a big advocate. But I can see how it might go wrong for some holiday makers. It's a long, linear, narrow city and you need to know how to navigate it, where to stay, where to go, when to go etc. More so than other places. It's extremely busy these days and you don't really want to find yourself crawling down SZR for an hour. Whilst there is something for most budgets, in general, it's not cheap. I'd rather not go there and be thinking about (worrying) about spending money - say you've just finished a £15 glass of wine, you don't want to be hesitating about having a 2nd glass - if you think you might be hesitating or questioning it - then somewhere in Europe might be better.

You don't mention budget but I'd recommend Maldives. It is the wet season (back end of it) but I don't think there are many place to beat it for a complete down time.

I can recommend Moofushi as an AI option that is really good having been there twice (Nov and Dec)

Maldives would definitely by my first recommendation.

And ignoring the comments about Dubai from people who have never been to Dubai, Jebel Ali would be a good AI option. 100% no insta types, decent choice of food, but not as high end as a lot of Dubai hotels. And quite a way out of the city if you also wanted to do sightseeing etc. Dubai doesn't have a lot of other AI options though.

So you've never been and have absolutely no clue what it's like then, why even bother contributing. There's plenty of examples of council behaviour at any holiday destination if you look for it, even the Maldives.

FWIW though, I don't think the OP is after a trip to Dubai based on the criteria, it gets very busy around that time when the weather is nice and pleasant and Europe has cooled down. Sounds like somewhere in the Indian Ocean or SE Asia would be more suitable.

I’ve been to Dubai and it’s just not what I look for in a holiday.

Holiday to me is finding beautiful places, lovely local food, nature and local culture. Zero ticks for Dubai for any of that just lots of man made luxury.

Jebel Ali? Might as well go to skegness.

The UAE will have the weather, but best to avoid the cities altogether.

Google Sir Bani Yas. It’s a private island / nature reserve with a hotel operated by Anantara, accessed by boat from a quay about an hour’s drive south of Abu Dhabi. There’s a main hotel, a set of individual villas on the beach, and another set inside the nature reserve.

I stayed in one of the beach villas. Didn’t actually venture as far as the hotel. Did a safari, some horse riding, dinner on the beach, etc. Generally lots of lazing around with the odd bit of horizontal exercise.
