A fair few own boats and the pop up on random threads so hope you don't mind if I start a introduce us to your boat thread.

Here's Aries. shes a 29ft Westerly merlin. She's actually 27ft but 2 foot added as she's a sugar scoop. Recently purchased after years of trying, Covid didn't do boat values any favours for buyers. Currently based in Tenby but will be back in Cardiff yacht club by the end of the month hopefully.

Our budget was early 80's boat so great to pick end a '91'.A few jobs need doing but she's in good condition and been looked after, previous owner didnt touch anything himself just paid out for servicing and maintenance so some nice receipts in the file.

My Cobra 7.5 in moody photo mode! If you like this kind of boat, a really nice stable ride, plenty of decent seating, a table for being social and with a 225 outboard ample go for watersports.

My Bavaria 32. She’s a fabulous family cruiser, big enough to be fairly comfortable, small enough to single hand easily. I have a suspicion she will be a “lifer” as the cost to change to something like a Bav37 is just prohibitive, and I’ll be well into the law of diminishing returns.

680 cc Volvo MD2020 which sips diesel, teak deck, heating, showers, cruising chute, fridge, radar and full Raymarine suite mean she’s all the boat we’ll ever need.

Kept on a Solent swinging mooring for less that £250 a year…cheap as chips yachting if there is such a thing!

How often do you have to lift to antifoul the bottom on a sea mooring? I assume that costs a fair bit to maintain over the basic 250 per year. Nice boat though.

Cheap as chips. DIY job against the scrubbing piles between tides. £5 for the piles, £6 for a couple of industrial jet wash tokens. My lad and my wife help too, an annual ritual at the start of the season. Although the antifouling paint itself is quite expensive. People talk about “oooo, what about osmosis leaving the boat in all year?” Bavarias are vinylester so aren’t affected, and we’ve had some cracking winter sailing when others are out the water.

Our Ocean 30, 1976, she’s old, rattles a bit, but we love her loads, moored on the Ely Ouse.

I remember the 'journey'!

Mine is still keeping me sane - even if it did cost me north of £3K on a refit this year... now I just need the rain to fk off so I can use it... irked

Snap.

My pair were a scaled down version of https://bulletboats.com.au/

45 years old and still going strong. Those 25bhp Mercury outboards are impossible to kill.

My recently purchased Hanse 311 moored in the South West. Still getting to know her properly and introducing my wife to the joys of sailing (it’s our first boat although I have sailed before)

This is my thorn in my side … 2011 23LSV Wakesetter running a CTS-V derived Cadillac LSA engine putting out 555hp (i doubt it puts out anywhere near that these days)

It drinks like Oliver Reed on shore leave.

Osmosis is worse if the boat is in in warm freshwater, according to my surveyor. So you should be fine in saltwater anyway

Here's our little Saga 26 HT, slowly refitted and modernised over the past 4 years. Pretty happy with it now...

Perfect for cruising round Poole Harbour, and local Coastal work.
