Notes
Had my first short drive in my Meteor Special yesterday 3/11/2017 after its engine and autobox rebuilds. The Jaguar V12 power steering and disc brakes work well.
The engine topped out at 631 hp on the dyno in bogstandard form so that should be enough. Now for a period of development to refine the car and to make up mudguards perhaps.
Had to double the cooling capacity by putting in four 3 inch tubes under the chassis and two Davies Craig electric coolant pumps. What a difference!
On the weighbridge the car proved to be almost perfectly balanced fore and aft, about 1050kg on each of front and rear axles.
Fuel consumption is about 1 litre a minute!
As I have had complaints about it being too quiet I am now to make up stubbies for the manifolds.
I have heard of two more Meteor Specials being built in Texas and Essex. It is a ten year job lads. Be prepared! But worth it when you have your first drive.
