Jim Thomson Hillclimb, Harewood
Date(s): Sunday 6th June
Venue: Harewood Hill Climb
Details: A Weekend with the Choice of Vintage Action or Modern Masterpieces Ð Harewood Speed Hillclimb has it All!

June 5th and 6th are the dates for two widely differing, but equally exciting motorsport meetings at Harewood Speed Hillclimb.

Saturday sees the running of the annual Classic and Vintage Meeting, when competitors from around the UK gather at BritainÕs longest permanent hillclimb course in a fascinating array of high performance vehicles from the past.

From diminutive pre-war Austin 7s to gleaming examples of classic machines including Alvis, Bentley, Lea-Francis and Lagonda models, thereÕs a feast for the eyes of spectators, with the carsÕ open cockpits and high driving positions putting the drivers very much on show as they struggle to negotiate HarewoodÕs tricky corners on yesterdayÕs style of narrow tyres.

ItÕs all change on Sunday, when itÕs literally fast forward to the present day, for the Jim Thompson Trophy Meeting. Over 100 cars are entered, from hot hatchbacks to single seater racing cars, including a number of well supported one-make classes for the fastest machines produced by Ginetta, Morgan and Porsche.

Harewood Speed Hillclimb is located between Leeds & Harrogate and well signposted on all approach roads. Spectators can look around the cars in the paddock, talk to the drivers and get really close to the action from dozens of vantage points around the course.

Catering and refreshments, picnic tables and seating are provided and there are trackside displays showing each competitorÕs speed and time up the course, plus an informative commentary.

Spectator entrance is just £10 per person for each meeting and children under 14 are free of charge. All meeting dates are detailed on the website at www.harewoodhill.com along with some exciting videos of cars racing against the clock up the hill, in what must be YorkshireÕs most scenic motorsport location.

So why not make time to visit either of the June meetings and see for yourself why Harewood Speed Hillclimb is such a friendly, exciting and enjoyable motorsport experience Ð when the cream of sports cars from past and present are going to be in action.
