History

The Mk4 R32 needs little introduction.

Launched as the ultimate evolution of the fourth-generation Golf, it combined Volkswagen’s naturally aspirated 3.2-litre VR6 engine with 4MOTION four-wheel drive, a six-speed manual gearbox & distinctive styling to create one of the most memorable performance hatchbacks of its era. Not to mention the glorious noise.

This example was supplied new by Autohaus Bartels in Hude, Germany in May 2003 as a factory collection vehicle & has clearly been cherished since day one.The history file is particularly impressive, containing an extensive collection of paperwork alongside all previous tax discs.

These period documents offer a wonderful insight into the car’s life & are increasingly uncommon to find preserved with modern classics of this nature.Adding further interest are the original R32-branded umbrella & pen, a must have for any serious collector.

It’s hard to put into words how stunning this car is, it has a true presence in our showroom.

Body & Paintwork

The Black Magic Metallic paintwork is, dare we say flawless, with no visible marks, scratches or swirls. It has been fully detailed & is ready for its next custodian.

Panel gaps are factory-perfect, the glass, lights & badging all present exactly as you would expect from a pampered, 18,000-mile vehicle.

The car has had a full, professional repaint in its original colour to an extremely high standard.

This was only done due to small marks/ imperfections in the original paint & we have pictures documenting this before & during the repainting process

Interior & Trim

As can be seen from the pictures, the interior presents just as well as the rest of the car.

The cabin features the highly desirable factory König leather “wingback” bucket seats, which present in very good condition with minimal bolster wear, perfectly mirroring the low mileage.

The original switchgear, soft-touch dashboard finish, & leather steering wheel remain crisp & factory-fresh.

Factory equipment includes the upgraded Radio Navigation System with MFD. Everything operates exactly as it should, & the cabin retains its authentic 2000s Volkswagen flagship feel.

Engine

Volkswagen’s legendary 3.2-litre VR6 engine needs no introduction, producing around 237 bhp & delivering the distinctive soundtrack that has become synonymous with the model.

As can be seen, the engine bay presents in beautifully.

Obviously, with such great care & servicing over the years, this example runs beautifully as you would fully expect.

Running Gear

Of course, with such low mileage & great history, all running gear is in great order.

All wheels are un-marked & are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.

Power is delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox to Volkswagen’s 4MOTION four-wheel-drive system, providing impressive traction & making the R32 every bit as capable on the road as its muscular styling suggests.

A new clutch slave & clutch have recently been fitted, due to the common leaking slave cylinder that these cars suffer from, so rest assured this example is ready to be enjoyed.
