2000 NISSAN SILVIA

Background:

Introduced in Japan in 1999, the S15 represented the final generation of Nissan's celebrated Silvia, a model that had established a loyal following amongst enthusiasts thanks to its combination of rear-wheel drive, balanced handling and considerable tuning potential.

Compared with its S14 predecessor, the S15 featured sharper, more contemporary styling, a revised chassis and a more focused driving experience. Its distinctive headlights, low bonnet line and compact coupé proportions have helped establish it as one of the most recognisable Japanese performance cars of its era.

The range comprised two principal variants, the naturally aspirated Spec-S and turbocharged Spec-R. The Spec-S was powered by Nissan's 2.0-litre, 16-valve SR20DE four-cylinder engine, producing approximately 165PS (163bhp) in Japanese-market specification. With its rear-wheel-drive layout and manual transmission, it offered an engaging driving experience without the additional complexity of the turbocharged model.

Production of the S15 ended in 2002, bringing the Silvia nameplate to a close. Now over 25 years old, examples from 2000 are eligible for importation into the United States under the federal 25-year vehicle import exemption, further broadening the appeal of these increasingly sought-after Japanese coupés.

The Car:

Dating from 2000, this Nissan Silvia S15 Spec-S is presented in Pearl White, having benefited from a repaint during its life. The car indicated 215,000 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, equivalent to approximately 133,000 miles.

Powered by the naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre SR20DE four-cylinder engine, coupled to a manual gearbox, this example retains its unmodified engine, an appealing feature given the extensive performance modifications frequently associated with the S15.

Externally, the car benefits from a number of desirable upgrades, including a Vertex body kit, genuine Spec-R front bumper and genuine TE37 alloy wheels. These are complemented by OEM-style LED headlights, giving the Silvia a distinctive appearance whilst retaining its recognisable S15 character.

Inside, the original audio system has been upgraded with a double-DIN touchscreen head unit incorporating Apple CarPlay, providing modern connectivity and convenience.

The car has also benefited from recent mechanical attention. In April 2026, it received a service and replacement engine belts, whilst the braking system has been refurbished, including the discs and calipers at all four corners, with the calipers colour-matched.

Accompanying the Silvia are its original import documents, providing a record of its arrival in the UK. The distinctive private registration S15 UFK is also included in the sale.

Condition:

The Silvia is presented in fair condition overall, with general wear and tear consistent with its age and mileage. Having been repainted in Pearl White, the exterior benefits from its distinctive body styling, although some cosmetic imperfections remain. These include cracking to the rear spoiler, as highlighted in the accompanying photographs, whilst the TE37 alloy wheels would benefit from refurbishment. The naturally aspirated SR20DE engine remains unmodified, and the recent servicing and brake refurbishment represent useful maintenance undertaken in preparation for continued use.

With its manual gearbox, desirable Japanese aftermarket components, original import documentation and included private registration, this S15 Spec-S offers an interesting opportunity for enthusiasts of Nissan's final-generation Silvia.
