According to correspondence supplied with the car, its first owner initially ordered a Series 4, changing his order when a limited run of Series 3 Super Sevens was announced in February 1974

Chassis C533552TCR is identified in that account as the second production example following the prototype, with the preceding car reportedly exported, placing this Seven amongst the earliest of the new production run

Originally intended for delivery in component form, parts shortages reportedly delayed its arrival beyond the holiday the purchaser had arranged to assemble it. Caterham is understood to have agreed to complete the build for an additional £200, making an exception to its component-supply policy for UK customers

Collected in August 1974, it reportedly carried Lotus badges and came with Lotus manuals and paperwork, whilst the sales invoice named Seven Cars Limited. These details offer a fascinating insight into its identity during the transition from Lotus to Caterham
