1989 MG METRO TURBO

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 12,000 - GBP 15,000.

A rare and increasingly collectible Series II MG Metro Turbo, displaying just over 55,000 miles and benefiting from a comprehensive restoration completed in 2015

Originally a strong, largely untouched car, it was stripped to a rolling shell and meticulously refurbished, earning first prize at the 2016 MG Car Club event in West Yorkshire, with further enhancements since

Finished in striking Flame Red, the bodywork presents superbly, complemented by restored original 13-inch Turbo alloy wheels, recently fitted with new tyres

The restoration included removing the engine and ancillaries, preparing and repainting the engine bay, and repainting the shell with the screens and exterior trims removed before rebuilding with numerous new parts

Used exclusively in dry conditions since restoration, this show-quality example is ideally suited to the show circuit or a private collection. With reportedly just 28 examples remaining road-registered, opportunities to acquire one in this condition are increasingly rare

Powered by the lively 1,275cc turbocharged engine, it remains on the button, delivering the spirited performance, entertaining handling, sharp braking and precise steering for which these hot hatches became renowned

Further recent investment has increased the level of finish and detail shown throughout this increasingly rare Austin

Currently MOT tested and ready to enjoy, this impressive British performance icon offers genuine collectability and an engaging driving experience
