2001 LONDON TAXIS INT TX1 BRONZE

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 4,000 - GBP 6,000.

The TX1 was built by London Taxis International (LTI) and was introduced in 1997 to replace the aging Austin FX4

The Bronze model was the base-level trim configuration. It was built to be a durable, no-nonsense commercial vehicle intended for heavy fleet operation across London's streets

This example was sold by KPM Taxis of London to Mr Howe on 14th September 2001. He retained the cab until October 2005, when it was acquired by Cab Autos of Coventry and subsequently became a licensed Coventry taxi.

During its time with the previous taxi owner, having covered we believe approximately 50,000 miles at the time, the engine, automatic gearbox and radiator were replaced with components reportedly sourced from a Taxi salvage company

Since acquisition by our vendor, the cab has been extensively restored and recommissioned, and more recently enjoyed on the Isle of Wight at classic car shows and to promote the Royal British Legion

Mechanical attention has included full brake replacement and a full engine service including four new glow plugs. The automatic gearbox has also been subject to an inspection and overhaul report, all detailed in our Sellers Report. Supplied with supporting invoices detailing much of the work

Finished in black, over a new interior with fold-down passenger seat, and incorporating a lockable safe to the drivers seat, and a Sony DAB+ radio

The sale includes its registration number ,TXI 656, Transport for London plates and a working MR400 taxi meter, currently disconnected for legal reasons, together with satellite navigation

Retaining plenty of its former working-taxi character, this recommissioned former London cab offers an unusual opportunity to acquire a classic piece of British motoring history.
