2015 BMW M4

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Saturday the 14th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. BMW’s involvement in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters has produced some memorable competition cars, and the arrival of the F82-generation M4 provided the basis for the marque’s 2014 DTM campaign. It proved an extraordinarily successful first season for the new model, with Marco Wittmann securing the Drivers’ Championship for BMW Team RMG.

To celebrate that success, BMW created the M4 DTM Champion Edition, a very limited-production version of the road-going M4 inspired by Wittmann’s championship-winning race car. Just 23 examples were produced, the number deliberately chosen to reflect Wittmann’s race number, 23. Of those, we understand that only five were manufactured in right-hand drive, all originally destined for the Japanese market, making the Champion Edition considerably rarer than the later 200-car edition produced following Wittmann’s second DTM title in 2016.

Offered here is number #8 of those original 23 cars and one of the five right-hand-drive examples. Originally supplied to Japan and subsequently imported into the UK, it is now UK-registered and ready to be enjoyed. We understand that it is currently the only right-hand-drive example of the 2014 M4 DTM Champion Edition in the UK.

The visual treatment was deliberately closely related to Wittmann’s DTM machine. Finished in Alpine White, the Champion Edition features contrasting matt-black panels and the distinctive multi-coloured graphics running across the bodywork, complemented by orange detailing around the BMW kidney grilles and the characteristic race-inspired decals, including the number 23 and DTM Champion identification. Unlike the substantially modified 2016 M4 DTM Champion Edition, which utilised the 500PS drivetrain developed for the M4 GTS, the 2014 car retained the regular M4’s formidable S55 3-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six, producing 425bhp and driving the rear wheels through BMW’s seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic.

This particular example was built on 26th January 2015 and its factory specification is suitably comprehensive. Highlights include M Carbon Ceramic brakes, Adaptive M suspension, 19-inch Style 437 M alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, Carbon Fibre interior trim, Adaptive LED headlights, Professional Navigation, Head-Up Display, Driving Assistant, Comfort Access, a reversing camera and the M Driver’s Package.

Importantly for such a rare and potentially collectable derivative, the car retains its original handbooks and vehicle records, with four recorded services up to 8,000 miles, together with a spare key. Its Japanese auction grading of 4.5B further supports the notably high standard in which it has been presented.

With only 23 examples produced worldwide, and just five understood to have left the factory in right-hand drive, the original 2014 M4 DTM Champion Edition sits amongst the rarest production derivatives of the F82 M4. Number #8 offers an unusual opportunity to acquire one of these seldom-seen cars, now UK-registered and, we understand, currently the only right-hand-drive example residing in the UK.
