A very well specified example of the Aston Martin DBS, this 6.0-litre V12 manual has covered 44,364 miles. The DBS has always stood apart from the more conventional Aston Martin GTs, combining the elegance of the DB9 with a more focused chassis and a noticeably more muscular character.

The proportions, low stance and carbon fibre detailing give it a presence that still looks right today. The DBS is a proper long distance GT, but there is considerably more to it than that. The steering is well weighted, the chassis feels secure and the manual gearbox gives the car a level of involvement that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. It is equally comfortable covering miles or being driven properly on a good road, which is really where the DBS makes the most sense.

The 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 produces 510 bhp and 570 Nm of torque. Power delivery is smooth and progressive, with a strong mid range and a wonderful response when worked through the revs. Combined with the six-speed manual gearbox, it makes for a very engaging way to experience Aston Martin's V12. Performance is still impressive, with 0–62 mph in around 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 191 mph, but the character of the engine and the involvement of the manual transmission are the real highlights.
