Description

- In very original condition - UK supplied matching numbers example - Excellent history - Featured in Jaguar World Magazine A remarkably preserved, matching-numbers UK example, this 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster has covered just 12,400 miles from new and is presented in the particularly handsome combination of Primrose Yellow with a black hood and black leather interior. Completed at Jaguar's Browns Lane factory on 9 June 1973, the car was despatched 18 days later to Fletchers of Swansea, its supplying dealer, before being registered to its first owner, David Fogden of Bath, on 30 September. Mr Fogden kept the Jaguar for four years, selling it to Brian Dignan in August 1977 for £4,800, at which point it had covered approximately 10,000 miles. It would then spend the next four decades in Mr Dignan's private collection, remaining with him until his passing in 2017. During this extraordinary 40-year period, the E-Type travelled just 1,500 further miles - an average of only 37.5 miles per year - accounting for much of its remarkably low total mileage today. More recently, the car has been carefully recommissioned, with the current owner investing some £20,000-£30,000 in bringing the car back to the road. The programme included replacement manifolds, work to the cooling system, clutch and brakes, together with a number of other mechanical and associated works. The result is an E-Type that retains a remarkable degree of originality for a car now more than 50 years old. The vendor presently considers the V12 engine, five-speed manual gearbox, bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to all be in 'excellent' order. The car is accompanied by an unusually comprehensive collection of supporting material. With its exceptionally low mileage, long-term ownership, substantial recent expenditure and, perhaps most importantly, remarkable degree of originality, this is a highly desirable manual V12 Roadster that should appeal strongly to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
