The Mercedes-Benz 380SL (R107 series) was introduced in March 1980 and utilising the same two-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with all-round coil-sprung independent suspension - wishbone front / semi-trailing arm rear, Power Assisted Steering and four-wheel Disc Brakes as its predecessors. The newcomer however boasted an enlarged 3,839cc SOHC V8 Engine and improved Four-speed automatic transmission and it was credited with developing some 204bhp and 232lbft of torque and capable of 0-60mph in 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 127mph. This 'Time Wharp' Mercedes-Benz 380SL was first registered on 11th April 1985 and is genuinely like a new car throughout. , It has only had the one previous owner and this was the supplying Mercedes-Benz dealer - Lancaster's of Ipswich who registered the car in their name for their Managing Director. He kept the car for 2 years before it was sold by Lancaster's to the current owners in May 1987 and they have owned it ever since. It has never seen rain or bad weather and has always been garaged from new and has now covered a genuine and low 64,383 miles from new and drives like a new car! Being a Mercedes demonstrator, it was fully loaded with every extra available at the time, including Leather trim, Air Conditioning, Heated Seats, Rear Child Seats, Cruise Control and Alloy Wheels. In addition, its Black Mohair Soft Top is its original Mercedes hood and is like new, as is the factory Hard Top. The interior is superb throughout and the body and paintwork is simply stunning with no corrosion evident underneath or anywhere for that matter. It is evident that the car has been exceptionally well maintained and cherished and the current owners have spent lots of money keeping it this way. They have also had many parts 'chromed' in the engine bay to enhance its appearance and it is genuinely in near show condition. Although we have had well over a hundred 107 series SL's over the years, I don't think we have ever had one like this before! Finished in the gorgeous Nautic Blue Metallic with excellent Beige Leather upholstery including rear seats with seat belts, Beige carpets + overmats, electric windows, Heated front seats, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, fire extinguisher, uprated Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB stereo/CD player + its original equipment Blaupunkt Boston SQM 23 Stereo radio cassette player in a box, its original Mercedes Black Mohair Soft top in fabulous condition, Wind Deflector, its original 3818cc V8 Engine - acclaimed to be best one of Mercedes's best V8's made + a 4 Speed Automatic Gearbox, and sitting on its original 14'' 'Mexican Hat' Alloy Wheels with a fairly new set of Michelin XWX 205/70/ VR14 tyres, spare Alloy Wheel, and its original Tool Kit and jack. We don't really know what else to say about this car, but it does come with it Mercedes leather wallet with all its original books and manuals, all MOT certificates from its first in 1988 through to the current MOT certificate, which expires in February 2027, plus there has only been one advisory mentioned on the last 11 MOT test's and that was for a minor rear exhaust leak back in 2012. There are a selection of old invoices for parts purchased + works and servicing carried out, a full print out of its MOT tests, a clear HPi check and certificate and it comes with two keys! Being a 1985 car, it is now registered as an Historic Vehicle and is therefore Road Tax free, MOT exempt and ULEZ exempt.
