2008 LOTUS EXIGE

Lotus Exige S – Graphite Grey – Triple Pack – Forged Wheels – Nitron NTR46 – Extensive History

I’ve owned this Exige for three years, having bought it from a friend. It was the car I always wanted after seeing the famous Clarkson vs Apache helicopter feature on Top Gear. I’m only selling because I’ve got my eye on the next adventure and unfortunately can’t justify keeping both.

It’s a great-specification S2 Exige S: Triple Pack, air conditioning, cost-option Graphite Grey and optional forged wheels, with comprehensive history and a long list of worthwhile upgrades.

Highlights include Nitron NTR46 three-way adjustable suspension (£4k+), Pro Alloy radiator, intercooler and A/C condenser, Moroso baffled sump, ITG Maxogen induction, upgraded full exhaust including manifold, BOE fresh-air scoops, GARW IC7 digital dash with carbon surround, Reverie carbon side scoops, Hangar111 five-element diffuser, carbon rear spoiler, Radium coolant tank and catch cans, dedicated oil pressure and temperature monitoring, lightweight battery and upgraded audio.

A major amount of mechanical work was carried out by Hangar111 last year. Following an oil-starvation incident on a trackday, the engine was professionally rebuilt with a new bottom end. With both clams removed, I took the opportunity to have the car gone through comprehensively rather than simply repairing the failure.

The work included new ancillaries, Exedy sports clutch, new twin oil coolers, fluids and belts, plus a Moroso baffled sump to prevent a repeat of the original issue. The resulting invoice was substantial and is available with the car.

Importantly, the car has now covered over 2,000 miles since the rebuild, is fully run in and has just been back to Hangar111 for its latest service.

Anyone familiar with S2 Exiges will recognise many of the age-related items worth checking, and considerable investment has already gone into this car: upgraded cooling hardware, intercooler, coolant tank, oil monitoring and the other items listed above.

It has also had the soft-top conversion, which makes it much more usable for roof-off summer drives. Unlike the hard top, the fabric roof can be stowed in the car and taken with you. I also have the fabric roof and support bars, which can form part of the discussion with a buyer.
