Description
This 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C is the GRB generation hatch and, as a WRC homologation special, basically a road legal rally weapon. Built from Subaru's last hurrah before they pulled out of the WRC in 2008, just 1,000 were planned and none were officially sold outside Japan.
The Spec C is one of the best value for money JDM performance cars you can buy. It is the lightweight, focused version Subaru built and it is perfect for driving enthusiasts. It has aged into one of the most rewarding fast Imprezas you can buy.
This particular car has covered 72,520 miles and was imported by us in 2023 as a grade four example. Since landing it has been looked after by Torque GT ever since. Some of its standout features include:
2.0 EJ20 running 324bhp
Factory Recaro interior
RAYS wheels
Ceramic coated Silver Metallic paint
Nur Spec exhaust
Blitz coilovers and Cusco strut brace
UK Pioneer stereo with reverse cam
On top of the standard STI kit, the Spec C brings a proper set of upgrades over a regular car:
Gold four piston Brembo brakes
Around 30kg stripped out to save weight
Intercooler spray system
Mechanical rear LSD, revised suspension and sharper geometry
The STI runs two setups that dictate how it behaves: SI-Drive for throttle mapping and the DCCD for the four wheel drive torque split. SI-Drive gives you three modes, from Intelligent (I) for traffic and low grip, to Sport (S) for everyday use, up to Sport Sharp (S#) for full boost and response on back roads or track.
The DCCD then controls how torque moves between the axles. Auto picks the ideal split for you, Auto [+] sends more forward for grip in the wet, Auto [-] pushes it rearward for a sharper feel, and Manual lets you dial the lock in yourself.
This Spec C is another WRC homologation special, which as we all know basically means you have got yourself a road legal rally weapon to hoon around in. Born from Subaru's last hurrah before pulling out of the WRC in 2008, the Spec C was never meant to be a mass market model. Just 1,000 were planned and none were officially sold outside Japan, so finding one here is no small thing.
