Description
Completed by the factory and invoiced to Maranello Concessionaires Ltd on 28 October 1983, this Ferrari 512 BBi was finished in metallic silver grey Argento 101/C with full dark blue hide and matching carpets. One of 214 examples built that year, it was delivered new to the UK—one of just 42 officially imported, with only 23 believed to remain taxed or on SORN today, and just two finished in silver.
The car was invoiced to the supplying dealer, Maranello Sales Ltd, on 31 January 1984, noting the optional all-leather interior including headlining and seats. The first owner, a gentleman from West Sussex, took delivery on 6 February 1984. The list price at the time was £48,749.47 plus £391.07 for the all-leather interior, excluding delivery, number plates and road tax.
In April 1988, with 11,790 miles recorded, the car was purchased from Maranello Sales Ltd for £125,000 by a Ferrari enthusiast from London and Lincolnshire.
A Graypaul invoice dated 30 January 1997 shows the car sold with 20,070 miles, with a Ferrari 456 GTA taken in part exchange. Shortly afterwards it was registered to a doctor in April 1997 at 20,254 miles.
In October 1999 the car was sold by myself while at Surrey Ferrari specialists Talacrest to a couple from Buckinghamshire with 23,101 miles. When they later relocated to Australia, the 512 BBi remained in the UK and was resold through Talacrest in September 2005 to a Midlands-based businessman at 24,375 miles, joining his Ferrari 400i.
Servicing continued with Talacrest until their workshop closed, after which maintenance passed to Rardley Motors. During servicing in late 2011 excessive crankshaft end float was identified, leading to a full engine overhaul completed in May 2014 at 29,234 miles.
Purchased in April 2021 by an overseas businessman alongside two Testarossa's models, the car has since been professionally stored in the UK. At this time the lower half of the body was refinished in semi-matt black in line with the original Ferrari 512 BBi brochure.
The car is supplied with its original service book documenting 22 services, 26 MOT certificates, the handbook wallet, and a comprehensive history file of invoices and MOT records.
