1985 Ferrari

Ordered new by Maranello Concessionaires Ltd’s Managing Director, on 1 May 1985 (order number TR/020), this early Ferrari Testarossa was completed in September 1985 and invoiced by the factory on 30 September for delivery to Maranello Concessionaires.

One of just 419 cars officially imported into the UK—266 remain taxed/SORN'd and among the desirable early single-mirror “Monospecchio” examples, of which only around 70 were supplied—this car was initially invoiced to Strattons (Wilmslow) Ltd, the Ferrari agent for Cheshire. It was first registered on 30 October 1985 to a Berkshire-based owner.

The car was specified in the classic Ferrari colour combination of Rosso Corsa (Fer 300/6) with Crema VM 3997 hide. As with all early cars, the interior featured a dark brown leather dashboard, centre console and door armrests, complemented by Testa di Moro carpets. The original list price in 1985 was £62,665.80, plus delivery, number plates and road tax. The car returned for its first service at 1,256 miles in July 1986, carried out by respected Ferrari specialists Modena Engineering.

In January 1990 the car passed to its second owner, a 37-year-old enthusiast from Lancashire, before being sold six months later on 1 June 1990 to the 53-year-old chairman of a Lancashire engineering company. The purchase was handled through the official Ferrari agents Dick Lovett of Wiltshire. During this period the car was lightly used but maintained irrespectively.

The fourth and penultimate owners, N.K. and Mr G.P. of Hampshire, acquired the car through their company in 2006 with 13,370 miles recorded, again in a transaction brokered by Dick Lovett. On 1 September 2018, with the mileage at 17,000, G.P. transferred the car into his own name, technically becoming the fifth keeper.

In December 2022 the car was sold to a overseas businessman with 19,699 miles recorded, joining a private collection that included a Ferrari 512 BB and 512 BBi,all professionally stored in the UK.

Today the car remains a highly original, early UK-supplied Testarossa with low mileage, desirable single-mirror configuration and a well-documented ownership history.
